"If you have a big camper, it is tricky to maneuver due to all the tall pines that line the water and electric sites and road to access the sites. But if you like rustic views and easy access to the lake, you can't beat it!"

"We had our church camp here, and it was a great experience! The campsites were very well-placed, and there were lots of trees perfect for hanging hammocks. Also really great sunset views, and a cliff jump not too far away from our campsite. Also, the loop around the whole camp area was great for young children to ride bikes around. There is a fire pit and picnic table at each campsite, and the bathrooms are reasonably close (we stayed in Pittsburgh)"

"The campground was great! We stayed in the Pittsburg side but will stay on the hermitage side next time for better views of the lake. Staff was kind and very helpful. Took one star off because the only laundry and bathroom/shower facilities were quite far from the site. They should have one per loop at least. There were tons of fireflies everywhere, the little beach on the hermitage side was beautiful and very peaceful. A lot of wildlife too! Deer, raccoons, armadillos, birds, and more bugs than anyone could want. There’s a nicely stocked grocery store not too far away, as well as gas stations and pubs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway."

"Pomme de Terre state park is just a 2.5 hour drive from Kansas City. There is a trail head right by the campsite that takes you on an easy 2-mile hike around the lake. However, if hiking is one of your favorite activities, Pomme de Terre might not be the best place to visit. The trail was in need of some maintenance, but still very nice to get out and take in nature. The lake is usually fairly clean. In the Spring of 2021, there was an algae issue. However, the park did a great job of posting warnings about water quality. The bathrooms are clean and the park rangers are very friendly and helpful. The park is basic, but my nieces and nephews enjoyed it. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our campsite. Getting down to the water was a little difficult. There are sites that have easier lake access. Many of the campsites are beautifully shaded. The ones that aren’t had little shelters above the picnic tables; which was nice. The raccoons are cute, but out away your food and trash every night. They are brave and will attempt to raid your campsite while you’re enjoying the fire. We visit Pomme de Terre every year and plan to keep coming."
