University Commons Apartments

"So I live here from 2011 to 2023. From 2011 to 2016 anytime someone would ask about the complex I had nothing but good things to say but later part of 2016 to 2023 no good words come up because their maintenance is VERY POOR. 4 years ago I had some life changing issues come out 2020 my father passed then a year after that my son had a medical condition start. I’m not gonna lie I got behind on some things so between 2020 and 2022 I had to rely on assistance for my rent later part of 2022 going into 2023 I almost lost my son by the grace of God he’s fine. But again life knocked me down again so i went to the leasing manager for help as I was instructed to do by her. No help given I finally got help that I had to find on my own and gave the complex $2300 dollars I only owed a late fee and 1 months rent three weeks later after being told that I was in the clear to remain a resident by the leasing manager assistant I had part of that money but me and my children were evicted."

"We have worked as a cleaning company for this apartment complex and have also lived here. This is our third time not being paid for services on time and it’s been almost six months since the cleaning has been completed. Monikki has asked for business insurance to send payment and this was almost 2 months ago and still no payment. She ignores calls and texts as well. She asks for work to be completed knowing they are unable to pay on time and it is wrong to those who work hard and have families to provide for. Please do not service these apartments unless you want to wait months to be compensated or not paid at all. We are yet to receive our payment."

"These apartments are really going down. Someone in our building requested a hallway cleaning after months of no cleaning. The leasing office is so cocky and arrogant she decided to post this note on our building. Any apartments will have regularly scheduled cleaning of the hallways and stairs. Not every day or every week but at least once a month. We used to get cleaning once a week and it just stopped. They send out mass text about everything else but never mentioned that hallway cleaning was all on residents now. The main doors to the building have no locks on them and all kinds of people wander through the building. Not occupants or guest. Sitting on the steps smoking blunts and leaving trash. Also there are plenty of spider webs and dead roaches out there on the floor and in corners. Who is responsible for that? Rent goes up and services go down around here. When Monikki wants you as a resident she is so sweet but then switch up after you complain about anything. This note is just the tip of the iceberg. University City is a very nice area but university commons are like the projects. Don't put yourself and your family through it. Stay away! You've been warned."

"Been here for 2 years now. Rent is very reasonable. Management does a pretty job at keeping the property maintained and cleaned. There is never any trash or litter on or around the premises of the property, so that's a plus for me. Staff is professional and responsive. There was a mice issue, but management responded in a timely manner and came with professional crew to observe and help in preventing mice invasions. I'm very relieved and happy to say the MICE ARE GONE. Regardless of any arising issue, which there has NOT been many since I've been here, I can truly say management will take care of it , and as long as you do your part in working with management and communicating with management as well, issues will be resolved. Needless to say, but you MUST keep your living quarters clean! Unfortunately, some do not, but if you do, then there will be no rodent/insect issues for you. Neighborhood is pretty nice for the most part. I feel safe with the police and fire station near the complex and surrounding neighborhood. I also love the fact I can stroll down the Delmar Loop and have some good food and fun anytime! Not perfect, but it's nice, manageable, and a good livable place to stay until you find your perfect dream home. Best wishes!"

"I moved in there was no cleaning done to the apartment. Carpet was dirty. There are animals in the walls and plenty of mice. Work orders never done in a timely matter or not at all. Rent is expected on time but, no one care other than that. Hallways are not clean and if there is a problem don't wait for a solution. They don't answer their phones or respond to messages left and are sitting right by the phone. Monikki the manager isn't interested till rent is due. I had a problem and I decided to talk to her about it. She took that information and told the tenant whom I had spoke of. Why the tenant called me and told me everything I had just said to manager. After 3 years I had had enough. The mice are out of controll and nothing is being done about it. I liked my place despite all the aggravation. I would never refer anyone to these apartments, you would be better off in a homeless shelter."
