"Yes, it’s little more than a town square. And yes, they used to be very, very common. Keyword here is USED TO BE common. Most of the town squares that remain in the US are little more than rotary streets surrounding a central area, with dilapidated and dying shops around the edge. This place is different, the town takes pride in it and it shows. People actually come here (on purpose!) for daily business- municipal offices, shopping, restaurants and cafes. While it will never be “urban town center” busy, it’s thriving quite nicely for a town of Ozark’s size. The entire area is a national historic district, most buildings dating to between 1890-1940. You know, back when people actually cared about buildings look. For anybody who is interested in architecture, especially small town, middle America architecture, come here and geek out at the many styles. And then sit on the sidewalk under a shade tree, and enjoy a coffee or a meal at one of the cafés, they’re great."

"Ozark Square is full of history. The License Bureau is their the tax office is there. Then across the street is the new offices for Ozarks Sheriff Dept. It's nice to look at the architecture, it's old!"

"I've been to the Ozark Square for government business only so far (recorders office and the county assessors office). There are some cute looking shops I would like to look through and a few bakeries I'd like to try. The layout somewhat reminds me of Stars Hallow from Gilmore Girls."
