Primrose School of Shawnee

"I would not recommend working at this Shawnee location. From an employees point of view there were numerous times where I was put in different classrooms because of low staff. I was never asked to be doing a favor for them. I never fully felt welcomed at this school and didn’t feel comfortable when the owner would scream in the hallway. It was a shame when this would happen because I believe schools create a welcoming and nurturing environment for the children. I also would like to state there were numerous times I was not paid my correct hours and it took the owner weeks to get me paid my full hours. I was not the only employee that this happened to. I wanted to write this review to warn people before they considered applying at this location. It’s a very unhealthy and negative environment to work in behind closed doors. Primrose schools is a great job and can be very rewarding but sadly not at this location."

"I would caution any prospective parents reading reviews. Roughly four or five of the 5-star reviews are from existing or previous staff/leadership members, inflating actual ratings. For our experience, our children only lasted a few months with Primrose of Shawnee. While our daughter had a decent experience and teacher, our son went through 4 different teachers in about 3-4 months. In the 5-minute drop-off and pick-up windows, we witnessed multiple inappropriate physical behaviors from staff toward children. We even notified leadership of our concern with a teacher prior to inappropriate behavior, which they were later terminated for. After an inappropriate event occurred, we visited with leadership to find ways to make things work. Neither my wife nor myself remembered receiving an apology about the staff member's behavior, nor would leadership admit culpability. We were simply asked to trust them, despite a deterioration of said trust over the course of 4 months. We hope others have a much better experience than we did."

"We walked into Primrose School of Shawnee and knew this was the school. We have since been at Primrose from Preschool through Kindergarten. The classrooms are clean, colorful, and full of work the class completes. The teachers have really made an effort to engage and develop the children. The management team is communicative to parents and any issues we had were addressed promptly, as they are committed to providing a learning environment that’s positive, safe, and fun. We’re very thankful to Primrose School of Shawnee. They have done a great job preparing our child for elementary school."

"We have been with the Primrose School of Shawnee since they opened 4 years ago. We now have 3 kids who have attended Primrose full time. The leadership team and classroom teachers have always been fantastic. I love how teachers who were there with my oldest daughter are now getting to experience my two youngest boys. It has always felt like family and I couldn’t imagine sending my kids anywhere else. They maintain a clean updated facility, have great curriculum, and are always hosting family events to get parents and family members involved. When people ask for daycare recommendations I always send them here!"

"I have been working at the Primrose School of Shawnee for over 4 years and love it!! All the teachers here are so passionate about what they do and love their students! Mrs. Lewis has been the best owner who is caring, encouraging, helpful, and supportive not only to the teachers, but to the students and families as well. Her dedication and hard work has framed the foundation of our school! I have not met someone as caring as her. The leadership team is always there for you and supportive. The students and families that come here are what make every day so amazing! Teaching and caring for all the children in the school is the most rewarding thing. I have adored the last 4 years and can't wait to spend many more here at the Primrose School of Shawnee."
