Battle of Lexington State Historic Site 1101 Delaware Street, Lexington, MO 64067
About the Business
The Battle of Lexington State Historic Site, located at 1101 Delaware Street in Lexington, Missouri, is a museum, park, and tourist attraction. Explore the Anderson House, once known as the best arranged dwelling house west of St. Louis, which became famous during the bloody three-day Civil War battle in 1861. Bullet holes still mark the walls, and evidence of cannon shots can be seen. The peaceful battlefield is now adorned with orchards and gardens, but the scars of battle remain. Learn about the battle that raised Missouri State Guard spirits and made Unionists in Missouri reconsider their stance at the visitor center. The site is conveniently located in the town of Lexington and is one of the closest Civil War sites to Interstate 70.
Exciting news for 2023 - the historic site now offers electronic off-road track chairs for visitors with mobility issues to use on the Battlefield Trail and Anderson House walkway. Check the website for more information. The site is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and holiday Mondays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and holiday Mondays. Please note that the site is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, and Presidents Day. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this significant piece of history in Missouri.

"A nice historic place to visit, lots of relics from the 1800 era. How much time do you need to learn and visot this historic place? Approximate one hour. If you are travelling / passing by, one hour is enough to visit the entire place and learn about facts and history."
"Not a big area, but Missouri does a great job with the historic sites and that ia try with this site. Learned some history and really enjoyed checking out the park"
"Small, but worth the drive off I-70 to see it. Didn't get to see the Anderson House, they weren't giving tours when we were there. I'd call before going again to find out when they're giving tours. There's also a small museum and gift shop, and a nice 20 minute video."
