"I had an emergency c section and I had some wonderful nurses and then i had some nurses that could care less after my postpartum, dr gave me a water pill and i wasnt able to walk because of all the fluid in my legs and things and i called my nurse several times for help but she didnt come help me her name was elli, she let me pee myself and all over the chair and sit in it, finally after they realized my daughter worked up there they became alot nicer to me, elli had an attitude the entire time taking care of me, then a nurse named skylar, was checking on my stomach which was fine but she pushed to hard and then when i said i was sorry for grabbing her hand she got an attitude with me and was rude about it, the only nurse that was wonderful was meloney, erica, jenna, I will never have a kid at mercy again! Then you feel like your a burden to them bc they put u down the end of the hallway all alone and complain for helping, elli was body shaming me in front of my bestfriend, i never had the help i deserved i was a cna i know what they should of been doing but they didnt!!! THE ONLY ONES who did there job was the three girls i mentioned, the others were rude and disrespectful and talked about pregnant girls and things!! Mercy lost all respect for me!!!"
"We had such a good experience here, all of my nurses were amazing! I wish I would’ve remembered their names but was exhausted from giving birth. They all went the extra mile and were so kind. My OB wasn’t there to deliver but the doctor who delivered was also amazing. I would thank the nurses a thousand times if I could. Housekeeping was very loud when they came in and woke me and my partner up several times and slammed the doors, was not very polite considering me and dad had been up for 30 hours and had just managed to fall asleep. Don’t bother with the photo company that comes in to take pictures, I figured at least one would be free but they said nothing about the price and made my baby very uncomfortable in the positions and waited until the end to tell us it was $500. Not good pictures at all either and you could tell they were not professional photographers. The hospital staff was amazing though! The refreshment room was such an unexpected bonus, there was an icee machine and very yummy sandwiches and snacks in the fridge that you could help yourself to, definitely better than the hospital food. As a first time mom I was so nervous reading some of the other reviews but couldn’t have asked for a better birthing experience. The security is definitely a little tight, they questioned dad everytime he left and came back but I appreciate that they don’t just let anyone back there. I hope my nurses see this review and know how much they helped me get through the whole experience, the encouragement during birth and the care afterwards. You all were amazing and I’ll never forget how well I was treated"
"I had an AWFUL experience postpartum after my c-section. The staff did NOT keep up with my pain management medication, they didn't always knock before coming into my room, they barged in and were extremely loud (one of the RNs named Ashley- barged into my room while I had just fallen asleep very unprofessionally and didn't apologize for having woke me up and proceeded to joke with the new RN Vivian. The same RN Ashley, never came to my room after I requested assistance 2 hours prior with getting my postpartum belly binder on. I told her I called hours ago and she stated she "didnt know". She also made me have to double up on my Oxycodone because she did my meds hours late even though I kept calling the staff to have them give them to me. She was HORRIBLE and should NOT be allowed to be in the field she is- In case I have her name wrong I want to clarify she was blonde and pregnant at the time of my stay). I felt SO incredibly mistreated and got told by a nurse on the weekend night shift (asian lady) that the only way she would take my baby to the nursery for me to rest (because I didn't have my husband in the hospital with me for 2 out of the 4 days I was there) that I would HAVE to go walk laps twice during the night. I had a hematoma/bruising pop up on my incision and I was not kept up with on pain meds and it made it almost impossible to walk. It broke my heart the way they mistreated me and used my vulnerable state to their advantage. I absolutely will never refer anyone to give birth at Mercy Hospital Joplin. I will note that Misty the last nurse that I had was wonderful to me and very kind. You could tell she cared. It made my heart happy after all of the mistreatment. Unfortunately I only had her a few hours prior to discharge."
"I've had 4 children since 2016 and all where born at Mercy and delivered by the same Doctor and I loved my experiences! I had noticed another review someone left about their kid not being aloud back and there being no signs posted, I know this rule because it happened as a result of covid, they had to tighten things down for the safety of the babies so that only siblings of the baby or kids 16 and over are allowed back. As a mother who had a baby at the end of March 2020 and 1 in October 2021, I appreciated them going the extra mile to protect my babies and their tiny immune systems! I will forever sing Mercy's praises!"
"Last night My daughter had her baby -my granddaughter - and I walked my son back who is 11 to see his sister and niece no questions asked right after the birth. He was not able to hold his niece last night due to her needing to feed and it being late.. He wanted to go see her today and we drove all the way up there so he can see her again. The Birthing Center nurse would not let him back there today because he wasn’t 16??? He was able to go last night? The fact that there were absolutely no “rules”posted whatsoever anywhere is very unreal. The fact that we were not able to bond with our daughter and new granddaughter is indescribable and pure disgusting to me and my family. I deeply feel cheated out of a beautiful time with my family and now this is the memory we are left with . I feel this is some sort of power trip of some kind and shame on you mercy."
