"Some background: Around mid 2021 I developed an issue that I needed to see a gastroenterologist. I got permission from the VA to use a 3rd party within their network. I made sure the VA was aware of the appointment and confirmed they were within the VA's network asking both the VA and DHS. Digestive Health Specialist also knew to contact them for payment. This company purposely did not contact the VA for payment. After I realized what was happening I did try to get it resolved but was denied by the VA multiple times. DHS is still trying to stick me with the ~$200 bill which I still refuse to pay to this day. Recently: I had a coworker (non-veteran) that had to go through them last month. After talking to him I discovered DHS never completed the procedure on him, did not record it, did not properly go through his insurance for payment and are trying to stick him with the bill. Sound familiar? This business is bordering on insurance fraud and malpractice. Going by the google reviews here. We are not the only ones experiencing payment issues with this company. In my opinion, this location is a danger to the health and financial well being of the Saint Joseph community. Avoid this place at all costs."
"I have to agree to the negative feedback. The way the "doctor" talks down to patients, lack of communication and follow-up, billing issues, general competence, and overall experience there. I will not return. I'll make my next appointment at a facility with professionals. I do want to clarify that I do not refer to everyone there because I believe that some employees do try and truly care, but are inhibited by others in the same office."
"Worst doctor I've ever ever been to. Teresa Maxwell is awful. Talked down to me the whole time. Asked me why I changed my name and when I told her it's because I'm trans she immediately started talking over me. She said her problems are worse than mine and I pretty much have nothing wrong with me. Awful experience, they wanted me to come back but I will never be returning. I informed my doctor not to send people there anymore and she said she's going to go with a different place now. AWFUL PLACE. DO NOT GO SEE THAT DR!"
"We have had 2 appointments at this office canceled last minute, once for my daughter being 16, they called 3 hours prior to the visit to tell us that she needs to be seen at Children's mercy. Oddly enough we were referred from Children's mercy and Children's Mercy called to set up that appt. The other was to cancel an outpatient scope 50 minutes before the surgery for having a diagnosis that was the exact reason for why the scope was being done. This was after a month and a half wait for the surgery. We had to do a covid screening for the surgery and the Friday before surgery we were told she was good, the results were negative. Now that we are asking questions about the last minute cancelation we are being told her results were positive. When asked about their gaps in communication within their network, scheduling, and lack of communication with their patients, we were told that "I can't fix what has previously happened" when we found this unexceptable and pressed on with the questions about the cancelation the office manager Terry told us "I am two steps away from firing your daughter as a patient and hanging up the phone". It's odd how accountability and expectations of communication are so aggravating to an office who's phone line message clearly states the expectations of canceling appointments on a patient's behalf and the continuation of their billing if not followed. Seems hypocritical and shows no concern for patient's time, stress, or timely results for diagnosis. We are severely disappointed in this team's management, excuses made and their lack of ownership of problems caused on their end. While they don't fall under the Mosaic banner, they bypass responsibility and lay blame with other offices much the same. Don't bring your loved ones here, make the drive to KC."
