"Beautifully maintained, safe-feeling park with 3 trails encompassing paved, gravel, and woodlands. On our way out, we noticed some challenging-looking rocky trails, too! Lots of cool old trees and a sweet little lake surrounded by pristine picnic spots. There's a lot to explore here!"

"This place is beautiful. I occasionally take my dog here, and we always see wildlife. Very peaceful and not many people when we have been there. There are paved walking trails and trails back in the woods that are not paved. There is a lake area and some picnic tables and benches along the trail to set at. I have never been in the buildings, so I am not sure what's in those. Anyway, we really love this place!"

"The trails here are an absolute delight! As I wandered along their winding paths, I couldn't help but feel transported back to the heart of Georgia country, enveloped by the serenity of the wilderness. It was as though I had found my way home. I will undoubtedly return to this haven of tranquility in the near future."

"This is a sweet little spot! This would definitely be a place to let kids get tired! It's got plenty of easy paths and trails; decide on dirt or paved. Great little picnic areas and fishing spots on two small yet lovely lakes. There are benches along the journey for moments of observation and reflection, or just enjoy the natural scenery. It's more than you might expect, and it's a little bit off the path. But EXTREMELY well cared for and marked for an leisurely walk through a little paradise at the end of a road!"

"staff were so friendly and helpful and kind! Went to the annual Hummingbird Festival for the first time. Was a fun time. The guy who was working in the air-conditioned indoor center was also so helpful and had a nice long chat with him about the things inside there and things to do in Independence. Was very interesting information that I did not know about KC geology. It was a very clean and peaceful place to walk on the trails. They had some native Perennials that the pollinators were hard at work on! Hummingbirds seemed to prefer the Sage (lovely blue flowers, never knew what they were before that day!) There are about 3 smallish lakes there. It was not stunning scenery overall but very peaceful and uncrowded. Will go again next year probably. Got some lovely photos"
