"My daughter has been with Xpress Dance Co in Madison for many years. She started in Kindergarten in 2013 and we moved out of country and came back in 2017. Since then she has been with Xpress dance and She has always enjoyed it until this one thing that traumatized my daughter. First of all, we were given a date for the dress rehearsal and for some reason , we got a mix up with the date. We thought it was June 3rd instead of June 2nd ,so she missed the dress rehearsal. She was dancing in three dances, bought costumes for all three dances and she was practicing at home every day and looking forward to the June 4th performance. Unfortunately, we were notified she could not dance because she missed the dress rehearsal. She had perfect attendance during her weekly dance practices and the only week she missed was when she had a drama performance in her school. The problem is not only that she missed the performance but none of her dance instructors had the empathy of calling when I wrote to them that she was crying. Who deals with human beings if they can’t have empathy, care and love for others. By the way, on the day of the dress rehearsal, no attempt was made to even call to find out why she did not make it. I could have brought her to perform even in one dance. I am a busy mom with a full time job and also in full time Ph.D program. I definitely got a mix up with the dates. Just a reminder could have saved my daughter from this trauma. Now with the advent of GroupMe or Remind, all parents and students should have some kind of reminder. She is getting counseling now just because of the trauma. Is that what we have reaped from our many years of loyalty to Xpress dance? Money gets debited from account for three dances without a single problem. I will look for a dance studio that can communicate, care, love and empathize with their students. I regret to see my daughter going through this."
