"This is NOT a funeral home! It is a historic chapel built as part of Oakland College, one of the first institutions of higher education in Mississippi. It now serves as the chapel of Alcorn State University. As part of the spiritual life of the campus, funerals occur here occasionally. It is definitely not the building’s main function. It is a historic building and well worth visiting."
"First I’m not sure if this is a funeral home because it’s on Alcorn University’s campus. Second we visited on a Saturday morning and thought it odd that the gatekeeper at the northern entrance told us to stay in our car. We went to see the iron staircase and porch railings from Windsor Ruins that had been given to the Oakland Chapel in the early 1900’s. Fortunately they’re on the front of the building, but I would have liked to have gotten a closer look."
