The Catholic Thrift Store

"While the pricing isn't a big problem for me, the behavior that is exhibited by the volunteers hurts and breaks my heart. Being a someone who loves God and is a faithful woman, I find it upsetting for me to see that fighting, judgement, and rude commentary online is what is resorted to. I have been in person and have called, and both experiences have been sadly unpleasant. Inside the store, I often felt starred down upon and glared at within the store. I often felt too scared to ask questions in person since my phone call (After being talked down to as I asked if they took certain goods for donation). It was a very uncomfortable environment. I am someone who is a minimalist and practices low waste habits, so shops like this have their place for those who do not want to produce more waste in our world. I am thankful that South Mississippi has plenty thrift stores to provide places where we can have a circular economy. I was happy when the store was announced to be open because of their mission, but I am just not comfortable providing my business here. Thank you for using your company for good, however, I hope you take the comments about the behavior in mind. I understand that we are all imperfect humans, but please choose kindness over criticism. Our world is a scary place, but I hope you all can spread God's love to others by the way you display your attitudes and spread positivity to others. Have a blessed day. "

"I've thrifted all over the country, including many St. Vincent De Pauls, and sadly this is one of the most overpriced shops I've ever been to. I wish I would have looked at reviews before I went, I could have saved myself the time. You're not a resale shop. Everything you get is FREE. I understand profits goes to those in need, but that doesn't justify the ridiculous prices. Whoever runs their account also replies to negative reviews in a degrading and unpleasant manner. I fully expect to get roasted for this review and maybe they just can't take honest criticism."

"Great customer service and very clean story. Three stars because of price. I shouldn't have to pay $27 for a used jacket. Looked at some other items that I liked. Sadly, I can buy brand new things cheaper on Temu or Shein."

"The staff was polite but I am disgusted and disappointed at how overpriced everything is! Most women’s tops were well over $10. Formal dress $70 and up! This is crazy for an organization like this to take advantage of people and shameful. The world is a hard place right now thrift stores are to help the community not to charge more than brand new in the stores. They do run discount but they have to or they would never be able to compete with Walmarts prices for new. This is so sad. It isn’t just clothes, for example they had a camping lantern. Said on the box it works but the light bulb is blown out and will need replacement. $10 price tag on something that technically won’t work until the replacement is made."

"These people are the nicest people!! I'm glad I went to see this store for myself. After reading some of these reviews, I expected the worst. It is actually a GREAT store with lots of really nice items. With the sales dollars they make, these folks provide help to homeless & needy people. They also have high rent & utilities to pay. Most of the employees are volunteers. **Please keep this in consideration before saying rude things to them. They offer 3 color sale tags weekly along with other specials inside the store. If you are local, eventually each color tag cycles into being 60% off. If I was a local, I would "for sure" stop in regularly to see what they have on the sales floor. The reality is thrift shopping isn't super cheap anywhere anymore. If you want .25 & .50 deals, garage sales may be the place to hang out! :)"
