H&R Block

"I WOULD RATE ZERO STARS IF I COULD! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Mimi was our tax preparer, and we spoke with her multiple times leading up to our in-person appointment. Not once did she mention the price (though I was originally quoted $150 by someone else in the office) and until she was rushing us out of the door for her next appointment did she finally tell us it would be $315 because of a child tax credit. DO NOT GET YOUR TAXES DONE HERE! They basically use the same format as Turbo Tax and Mimi entered the wrong numbers multiple times. Thankfully, she would show us to double check and we would catch this. On their website there is a “no surprise guarantee” which apparently means nothing to them. I contacted the number that they respond to every negative review with and SAVE YOUR TIME, they don’t do anything. Someone takes a “report” and say that you will be contacted by someone from management and no one does. I’ve called THREE TIMES. TERRIBLE BUSINESS! I will never have anything to do with this company agin!!!"

"Definitely no stars. I had an appointment for filing my taxes with HR and when I came in they said there would only be extentions made. I had called to make an appointment two weeks ago and no one pointed that out to me. Very disappointing. Fortunately I went to Jackson Hewitt, walked in, respectful staff and they did a great job."

"When I filed my return with H&R Block, I had the expectation that the returns would be sent to the states and federal government, and I'd either pay them money or they would pay me money. You didn't send the return to one of the states, didn't let me know, and it's now a year later and I'm still dealing with this. When I inquired about the return, you said you could "file it for me for $65"...I already paid you to file my taxes for me, and you asked me to pay again? I'd suggest anyone who is considering filing their taxes through H&R Block, particularly this branch, should really think carefully about how much stress they want to deal with. The whole point of hiring a tax preparer is to make this whole process easier, and H&R block has done a great job lobbying to make it as difficult as possible. They do NOT have your best interests in mind, profits above all else."

"I had a challenging return with multiple states. There was no way I'd be able to figure it out myself. My preparer did a great job sorting everything out for me. The only issue is one of the states didn't receive my return, so I'm still trying to figure it out with the state a year a later."

"Mimi did my taxes last minute last year but this year I finally came in with more of an agenda and was a few weeks early. I just let her do her thing, she asks me a few questions and then I'm done. Incredibly helpful."
