Impact Jiu Jitsu (Hillsboro)

"Ive been doing BJJ and Kickboxing here for about 3 months and its been amazing the coaches here are welcoming and very knowledgable it feels more like a family than anything especially if your in with the kickboxing crowd (shoutout to coach sean)."

"My little one just turned 4 and we had this place in mind all along for him to join. We were super excited to be getting him the Free trail, but once we got there we were not greeted and we did not have idea on what to do or what to expect. They suited my son and had him wait on the mat for instructions. My son was not sure how to follow EXACTLY what the man was telling him to do (Again, it his first time engaging in such activity) I kept hearing the man tell my son “ you got to be able to follow directions”, the way he was looking and tone of voice of the man was not friendly for a 4 year old. After that they had them line up and do runs around the room and they wanted my son to run directly behind the leader, my son didn’t run behind very well but tried what he could. I felt uncomfortable because the instructors were grouped and I knew they were talking about my son not following, my little one was also the youngest amount all the other student well over age. I was ready to pull the little one out since he was not doing so well with direction and all other student were much older and knew what to do. The instructor told me they never had me fill out the liability form and my son shouldn’t have been on the mat(While signing up online for the free class there is no form to fill) While I was filling out the liability form another instructor came with my son and told me my son was not ready and he stood to the side waiting for something; I realized he was waiting for me to undress my son and give back the suit, which I did. No one spoke to me and let me know suggestions or what we could do, and we just left. This place can be discouraging. I wouldn’t recommend this place AT ALL for a first time toddler if they can’t follow EXACTLY what the instructors are saying or don’t understand the moves the instructors are asking of them.(AGAIN, it was our first time and my son has never been in such environment or understood the movements). We are now looking for a new place to place our son. I don’t think this place is bad but I don’t think they have a great structure or information on their website regarding what to expect or what THEY expect if you have a child under the age of 5."

"I kept getting charged even though I talked in person with Anna about not attending anymore classes. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops in order to stop future charges, verbal communication should be sufficient. If I hadn't noticed the charges on my credit card bill they would have kept charging me even though my daughters were not attending classes. Its a EXTREMELY DECEITFUL way to run a business"

"Both my son and I practice Jiu Jitsu at Impact (Hillsboro) and it's been a great experience. I will say my 5 year old son has had a hard time finding a sport he enjoys, coaches he trusts, and staying committed. With Richard and his team, my son is not only progressing but excited to attend. A shout out to Coach Ericson and Coach Nate as both are great with kids and highly recommended. It can be hard working with kids, I couldn't do it, but they make it fun, a great learning experience, and motivational."
