"Leading up to having my procedure I had such amazing experiences with everyone I interfaced with around the process. Working with the front desk staff, medical assistants, and the insurance team were are great experiences. Even his answering service people were patient and kind. They were all willing to listen and be flexible. I think this comes from Dr Skarada and his big heart. He draws in people with that kind of love and kindness for other humans. He is genuinely one of the most humble doctors I’ve ever met. His focus to help his patients to get the best care for overall healing is phenomenal! He’s put together a great team. "The office is conveniently located, has adequate parking, is clean inside and out. The guy at the front desk (maybe Grant?) was friendly, walked my to the exam room and took my vitals, etc. He explained everything as he was doing it. My P.A. was Jenny. She was very friendly, I felt very comfortable with her. She spoke fast which isn't normally an issue for me but this was all new stuff so I definitely had to make an effort to digest the info as she was moving along. But I liked her. My main issue with this office is that they are on their own timeline. I needed the sleep study to get cleared for surgery. I let them know that from the very first call and continued to let them know that I was 6 weeks out. It was 10 days before I received the home test (longer than I was told when I was in the office). Then it was two weeks before I got my results. I had called a few times to ask if they will call me if the results were available early, turns out, the results were available 5 days before and I was never told. When I asked about the treatment options, everything would take several weeks. My timeline was winding down and I didn't feel like there was any effort on their end to help me. I called around myself to other medical equipment suppliers and found one that could get a CPAP to me sooner but told me they needed a Rx. I called back to Modern Clinic and the girl who answered the phone told me that they do not release prescriptions. Period. I explained my situation at length and literally begged. She dug her heals in and said that I had to go through them. I asked her to have Jenny call me. I don't know if the message was not forwarded but I never got that call. Fortunately, the scheduler at my surgeon's office found another sleep study clinic in Vancouver who reviewed the study that Modern had done, called around to several of their suppliers until they found one nationally who could ship one to me the next day. This other clinic in Vancouver didn't even do the sleep study (or get paid for it) but they were SO helpful and got me what I needed. They actually worked WITH me and treated me like an individual. I received a call from Modern a week or so later asking if I wanted to order a CPAP. I told the lady of my experience and how frustrated I was. She apologized but that was the extent of it. The whole experience was EXTREMELY frustrating. I think that Modern has some good, cutting edge things to offer but they didn't care one bit about me as an individual. Everything had to follow their cookie cutter timeline. Disappointing."

After having researched my sinus condition and knowing that balloon sinuplasty was a treatment that I felt would be best for my condition and not getting responsive care at my original physician, I sought out a second opinion with Dr. Skarada. I am so glad I did. I felt that I was listened to and while I ended up going the self-pay route (unfortunately I am on OHP and that was not accepted), I am very glad that I had the procedure and am on the healing end of my journey. I appreciated the clear instructions, the videos that arrived in my email to let me know what to expect post surgery and the personal care received.
