About the Business

Compton Family Winery

Compton Family Winery is a family-owned institution located at 810 Applegate Street in Philomath, Oregon. Founded in 2003 by Matthew and Tabitha Compton, the winery is dedicated to producing Oregon wines with minimal intervention that showcase the true character of the grape varietals. The Comptons practice regenerative agriculture on their homestead and in local vineyards, utilizing methods such as dry farming, cover crops, and adaptive grazing.

At Compton Family Winery, you can enjoy a selection of handcrafted wines from the signature collection, perfect for special occasions. The garden series, formerly known as Spindrift Cellars, offers the same great wines with a new and enhanced label. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a glass of wine, shop for bottles to take home, or learn about regenerative viticulture, Compton Family Winery has something for everyone. Visit us to experience the true terroir of the Willamette Valley in every glass.

"A gem. I visited the tasting room and have been a wine club member ever since, in order to get my fix of Compton’s hospitality & fantastic wine (I live in TX). Cannot speak highly enough of their customer service, communication, and product. I am a proud member of their wine club, and they take measures to ensure I have the best experience with their product 2,000+ miles away. I highly suggest stopping in to their storefront to see the concrete eggs… and encourage y’all to join the wine club!!"

"Angela is so knowledgeable about the wines they make! She’s so sweet, and great for conversation. Had a blast doing the tasting and left with a few bottles to take back home. Will absolutely be coming back"

"Best winery we’ve visited in Oregon. The staff are so friendly - the essence of what we look for in any business. They were incredibly helpful and took their time with us. We had our two girls with us as well (9 and 10) and not a single complaint :). There were other folks in the winery but we felt like we were the only ones. Well done."

"We love wine tasting at Compton Family Winery! We are locals, so it is a short trip for us to be able to taste award winning wines from the friendly owners, tasting room manager, and employees. They are very community minded, and give back generously to multiple agencies in Benton County. I am all about supporting local! Bonus that they serve quality, delicious wines. It is a no-fuss place to wine taste. I always feel welcomed and never feel the stuffiness that can happen while tasting at some places. Tabitha, the owner, is great! Highly recommend stopping by, and from there it is only a few more miles to check out a couple of other Benton County wineries. Cheers!"
