Monterosso's Italian Restaurant

"Have wanted to try this place for a while now and finally had the opportunity. I love the train car experience it’s a cute place. No standing room inside people right next to you as they wait for their table. This didn’t bother us just so you are aware. Small place so it was quite loud, had some ladies deep in wine who were very loud. Once they left the noise level was okay. Overall the atmosphere was very unique and enjoyable. Kids loved seeing the kitchen at the end of the train car. The food was just okay. The bread starter was very dry, the roll was better just not much flavor even with the basil oil they provide. I had the black and white braised pork pasta dish. I can’t find the name of it anywhere online and didn’t take picture of the menu, but for the price there was very little on the plate. Noodles were home made and yummy but falling apart. Pork meat had very little flavor and just wasn’t a good cut. I think the sauce had separated. Just wasn’t great. My daughter enjoyed her fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and her friend liked the Mac and cheese kids meal. Both their food looked good, and most of the pictures I see on reviews look wonderful. I would like to give something else a chance when and if we make it in again. We had great service, and sat down at opening on a Friday night for 3 with no reservation but they filled up quick."

"If you know, you know. This quaint place has been a local gem for many years and still retains that charm. Make a reservation, as there's really no room to wait inside for a table. The atmosphere is close quarters, so expect to share an ear in everyone's conversations. They make the best Chicken Marsala, which is pretty much the only thing my wife orders. Everything I've tried tasted great and is made with quality ingredients. They are happy to accommodate gluten free too, such as substituting zoodles for pasta."

"This was a cute little Italian place hosted inside of an older railroad dining car. I had the pasta bolognese with Italian sausage and my wife order the Chicken Parmesan one of her favorites. We also ordered some deserts that I neglected to get pics of. Both our dishes were great & had a very homemade taste and look. Nice big chunks of veg the sauce tasted really great and authentic. I had a tiramisu and my wife had a mango mousse."

"Wow! What a hidden gem! We came here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Very unique environment and very high quality food cooked to perfection. Tortellini Oreste with scallops was perfect. My wife had Chicken Marsala and she said it was very good as well. Can't recommend this place enough. The best Italian restaurant in town."
