"Went in to pick up pet rats because Petsmart and Petco had none. The lady that helped us was very nice and I could tell she was trying her best, that is the reason I’m giving two stars. I expected it but I was disappointed that there were so many rats in one TANK and they had extremely dusty bedding. Rats are born with extremely sensitive respiratory systems so a tank + dusty bedding is a big no. (Cage with wire bars and aspen bedding are recommended) They were also being picked up by their tails, rat tails are connected to their spines and you can severely injure them by doing that. We got two hairless rats and two normal coat rats. One of the hairless rats we picked up came with an upper respiratory infection that we’ll have to pay $100+ for at the vet. :/ They don’t seem to have mites that I can see which is a relief. The other animals seemed okay, I would just highly recommend the rodents be kept in well ventilated cages and better handling. I get they probably sell them as feeders but i’m sure no snake would want to eat a disgusting, sick nervous wreck of a rat either lol."
