"First of all, I would like to give a zero star, but the option is not available. So I'm only giving a one star because I had to make this post. First of all, I agree with Janie and Kema about their experiences at this hall. I regret not doing important things such as checking the reviews. I would have never had my wedding here. No wonder the date was available. Gerald's behavior was obnoxious. The morning of the wedding at 8am, Gerald was very mean and rude to my decorator. He was yelling at her and her crew about not wanting certain areas decorated such as the front entrance. But he stopped when I got there. Originally I told him I would have 120 guests, but 120 didn't come. I asked for extra tables and chairs, but he wouldn't give me extra tables. I moved my gifts off the table so my guests could sit there because I couldn't get extra tables. That's when he started harassing my guests asking them if they are leaving because they were walking and standing around looking for somewhere to sit. Then he followed them to their cars constantly asking if they are leaving. He looked in people's cars to see if they were sitting in their cars. Gerald had a crew of people to assist him with the event. They imposed themselves on my caterers and started serving food without my consent and started picking up deviled eggs with their bare hands. One of my guests stopped her. I didn't need their help because I paid caterers and servers to do that. Also, they threw away my rum sauce for bread pudding thinking it was a pan of grease. Mr. Gerald should not have this job. He should not be dealing with the public because he doesn't know how to handle them. I would not recommend this hall to anyone. Management needs to consider someone else to take this position because he will continue to lose business."

"My sentiments exactly Janie Thibodaux! The organization and hall has too great of reputation to have Mr. Gerald as their “keeper of the hall”. He’s cantankerous, rude and moody! Some of family was smoking cigars on the patio (per his request) and he harassed them by telling them to be quiet because the residents were old and suffered with dementia. In addition, he also mentioned he didn’t want anyone’s DNA left on the patio (which I assumed he was referring to the cigar remnants). The caterer couldn't use the kitchen facilities and the bartender was monitored on alcohol usage with drinks. He told us to leave early because he constantly stressed that his wife was recovering from kidney stones removal surgery. He made a wonderful Christmas party a very disturbing time."

"DO NOT ever have an event at this Woodmen of the World lodge. My family booked the place for a bridal shower and it the was the worst experience. Mr. Gerald and his wife are in charge of the place and let me tell you he is the most hypocritical man. He talked down to my family the entire time we went to decorate the day before the shower, saying that 4 hours to decorate was way too long and that he should’ve charged us way more and laughed at us. Mind you it was previously agreed that we had until 9:00 PM then decided to changed his mind mid-way through setting up and said we had until 5:00 (which was in an hour) because this was “ridiculous.” He kept circling us like a hawk and anytime we would ask him a question, he would throw his hands up and start yelling at us. He basically had everything he needs to survive there so he has a little spot set up with a TV in the back of the lodge so he stays there the entire time during an event, but would come out every now and then and just stare at us in discontent. He yelled at us again the day of the shower when we were picking everything because we were trying to help him with tablecloths and chairs and he apparently didn’t want our help? He was even very mean to my 4 year old cousin and started shaking his head at him when my cousin was by the dessert table looking at what he wanted. His wife even made a backhanded comment at one point. I could list every little thing that happened, but the bottom line is that he is not the “man of God” that he claims to be. It’s not worth dealing with him. His accolades mean nothing, it’s all a show."

"My new agent Nikki Bienvenu Bourne is wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and the biggest sweetheart walking this earth. Woodmen is also an amazing company. They are non profit and have enough assets to pay everyone claims if they all passed at once. They also offer many other services besides life. Anyone that doesn't have insurance or investment, I would refer anyone to Nikki and feel safe. Thanks woodmen and thank you Nikki!"
