"My fiancé and I began our lease of last year and up until recently we had no incidents or complaints. This past month in February, our next door neighbor’s sewer backed up and leaked through the plumbing into our living room, main bedroom, bathroom, and hallway. We contacted the management immediately about the incident and told them of all the damages. After having to wait several days, we finally had someone come and replace our wood flooring the FOLLOWING WEEK. but the sewer damaged carpet in our bedroom was never cleaned or replaced no matter that we emailed and called to ask about which appropriate measure would be taken to get it fixed. After having contacted the property manager several times via email about our carpet we started to realize just how poor the communication was and that they clearly didn’t see this as an urgent matter. We finally received an email on March 11 regarding that the management would “contact their vendor” to see about replacing the carpet. To make things worse, the humidity from water damage allowed mold growth and mildew to form in our Air Duct causing the entire apartment to smell extremely bad even though we had a de-humidifier, the amount of water damage was just that much. Frustrated with the lack of concern and urgency from the property manager, we looked for a new place to move and gave our 30 days notice ASAP. HOWEVER, after having asked multiple times about our lease renewal and process on how to do that beginning even before this incident, our lease agreement ended February 28th without them ever reaching out to us, although we had asked many times in advance. Now, the property manager is stating that we are liable for the 30 days per our “lease agreement” even though we have had to live in an apartment with carpet, damaged by SEWER WATER and the affects from that such as the mold and mildew growth. If the property management is reading this, I would suggest for future reference to not treat tenants like this and to establish a better understanding of how communication should work instead of just blowing off your tenants’ concerns or giving vague and short responses to very serious and urgent matters and to take extra steps to ensure that you have communicated clearly and effectively addressing ALL concerns. UPADTE: As of March 14th a service request had been put in to “repair the AC” and upon the worker taking a look at the issue of mold and mildew he agreed it wasn’t an issue with cooling and that the service request that had been put in did not say anything about the issues of mold or mildew. On top of that we had previously asked if any repairs or services to the unit could be postponed until next week since we are in the process of moving. Biggest takeaway from this—COMMUNICATION is key when there are many moving factors and issues to address, especially when it involves so many different properties and tenants. If the property manager has an issue with effective communication, perhaps that problem needs to be addressed internally with management so the tenants can have the assurance they need in knowing that their issues are being taken seriously."

"I’ve been here for some time. No complaints at all. The few times I’ve needed anything, management has gotten it taken care of quickly. Every time I see the maintenance lady, Danielle, walking around she’s doing so with a smile and does not hesitate to stop and say hi and see how things are going."
