"The Inn at Houmas House is 5 star, a must see when visiting New Orleans. Just stunning the gardens are the nicest you'll see anywhere. The Carriage House Restaurant has wonderful food & outstanding service! Visit the Turtle Bar for an over the top cocktail or Mocktail. The owner has truly spared no expense on on the upkeep, it been my fourth visit & I can't wait to go back!"

"We're had both breakfast and dinner buffets which offered very tasty Cajun food at a very fair price inn a very attractive setting. Periodically they have a dance band. The music was great and the crowd of swing dancers was lovely and fun."

"Our bedroom was spacious, but was just next to the road. On the website they say that you will have a porch to enjoy the view... well, I do not want to watch trucks driving by! Also, I could not sleep because of the noice of road, even though I was using earplugs. Definitively not what you expect when you pay over $300 for one night. If you want to tour the house, you have to buy tickets (approx $30 per person), but you can walk the garden freely otherwise (which is nice, especially at night). Breakfast was comprised in the price, but was really bad."

"Th Houmas House Plantation was an amazing place for our anniversary trip. We were there Friday through Monday. We ate at all of the restaurants and the food is 5 star! Our dinner meal at Latils Landing was a culinary experience we will not soon forget. Well worth the cost. We were able to eat in one of the rooms of the Mansion and the ambiance is very Anne Rice! Which we loved. The cafe on grounds has a wonderful breakfast buffet and the staff are so friendly. The gift shop has a very eclectic offering for souvenirs....which we spent plenty on..lol. The Carriage house restaurant had local cuisine that we crave when in Louisiana. The Gumbo and the oyster po boy were some of the best we have had. Again the staff was excellent and so helpful. We stayed on grounds in the king suite with a private porch and two large rocking chairs. We did have to go to the store and buy some yard guard for mosquitos and a small fan but after that is was very comfortable and private from the other bungalows. Our suite was very comfortable and had the decor of the late 19th century. The golf cart boys were great providing a relaxing way to get to dinner after dressing up and Coby gave us a little tour of the property with some of the history. The grounds are impeccable and have gorgeous foliage and fauna with a very extensive bronze statuary collection. There are 500 to 700 yr old live oaks on the property and pictures do not do them justice. The unexpected is the Japanese garden walk and the pet cemetery. Must sees. Last but not least is the Great River Road Museum, all I can say is WOW! I have lived in The South all of my life and I learned so much from the exhibits. We will definitely return here at sometime in the future. The owner Mr. Kelly has done an amazing job in preserving our southern history, the good and the bad, everyone that lives close by should go through this museum. We were sad to leave. Wish we could have stayed a little longer!"
