He called back promptly and he inquired if I needed him to come out after hours. I said the next day would be fine....he was right on time...very professional and honest. "My hot water heater went out in 12/2023 and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, when Tim’s installed my new 2-ton HVAC unit, they installed both the 15” inch return air vent and a 10 or so inch vent line so that both crossed right above the attic opening. To remove the old one and install the new one I had no other option but to disconnect both flexible duct lines. I turned off the system so that it wouldn’t cycle while they were disconnected. Due to some potential structural issues discovered while I was installing it, I chose not to reconnect those two lines because they would have seriously hindered my entry and egress into the space. Meanwhile, Bryan P. came out to do a scheduled maintenance one my two HVAC systems. I informed him that those two ducts had to be disconnected as well as other issues of concern I had about how the flexible ducting had been run and hung during as well as how the installers left their garbage (i.e. plywood cutouts, zip tie ends, sheet metal cutouts, tape backing) during the installation. When we were in the attic, he asked me if I had been cooling the attic, and I told him that the system has been turned off the entire time. As I was showing him the areas that, according to my research, were not properly supported or were compressed well beyond the manufacturers and the ADC Green Book on flexible duct installation standards, all he would say is that they were perfect and that there was nothing out specification. It became obvious to me that Bryan wasn’t interested in what I had to say, and I told him to complete what he needed to do and then he could leave, after which I left. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes later he knocked on my door to tell me he had finished and then smugly said that he had taken pictures of the two disconnected ducts and that if anything were to happen the unit it would not be covered under Tim’s warranty. Intrigued, I inquired how having those two ducts disconnected would invalidate the warranty, to which he replied, that if the unit were to be run without those ducts connected it would void the warranty. Stunned by his statement I asked him if he thought I was an idiot, which he did not answer. I handed him a printout of the ADC Green Book and highlighted the items I thought were relevant for him to read when he had a chance. I also asked him some very basic questions about flexible duct installation such as the maximum unsupported length allowed, and how much compression was allowable. He responded that he didn’t know. This is the same person that minutes earlier told me that the installers job was perfect. Those same "perfect" installers neglected to put a new, second return air vent that was required in my home when that unit was installed, and their oversight was only discovered after Justin came out to troubleshoot my first Trane Smart thermostats. At no time, during this maintenance visit, as has been performed for previous scheduled maintenance did, I see Bryan check, or clean any of the filters. I’ve used Tim’s for approximately two years now and given the unresolved issues with my thermostats, the fact that my new 2-ton HVAC can’t hold a candle the previous the through the wall, 12,000 BTU with the same amount of attic insulation, being told by Burt, who accompanied Gunner that day, that my Honeywell T-10 had a motion sensor in it, when Honeywell, in their FAQs says it doesn’t and now this experience, I’ve lost confidence in them and can no longer recommend them."
