Ruby Beach, located in Forks, Washington, is a stunning natural feature along the southwest coast of the Olympic Peninsula. This coastal area is a safe haven for thousands of marine species, protected by three national wildlife refuges and the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. The rocky outposts along the coast provide nesting colonies for birds like common murres and tufted puffins.
Visitors can explore the pristine beaches and marine wildlife by hiking the southern coast of the Olympic Peninsula. Kalaloch, one of the most visited areas of Olympic National Park, offers opportunities for bird watching and tidepooling. The Hoh River to the north creates a natural boundary, while the Kalaloch and South Beach campgrounds provide accommodation options for those looking to stay overnight.
For those interested in exploring further, the Hoh Rain Forest is a short drive from Kalaloch, and other park destinations like Queets and Quinault are easily accessible. Whether you're interested in tidepooling, bird watching, or simply enjoying the rugged shoreline, Ruby Beach offers a unique and unforgettable experience for nature lovers.

"Travel down the coast of Washington and see this beautiful area. Every beach we went to had different rocks to sandy. This was a rocky beach perfect for collecting a few souvenirs."
"We had read about the reason this place was named Ruby Beach. Apparently, some of the sand was garnet colored. We didn’t see that, but it was well worth the stop. Beautiful views! So much drift wood! The hike down and back wasn’t too difficult."
"Stunning cliffs and coastline. There is a parking lot, a public restroom, and access to the beach below. The beach is only accessible by stairs, but there is a nice overlook that is like a flat wooden deck and has plenty of space."
"The parking lot is new and renovated with a lot of spots. Nice easily accessible beach with some pools. The sand is softer here so you sink in, also the hill back up to the lot can be tough for some"
"Ruby Beach was beautiful! In late April, there was only one other couple there when we visited in the early morning. However, I would have preferred to visit near sunset! The parking lot was small and bathrooms are available. The hike is fairly steep but short and it’s worth it."
