"Please don't waste your time and your life with this school. I dropped out after 2 years, due to the bloated, boring and completely unuseful learning curriculum. The school is too focused with flowery concepts rather than efficient, grounded learning. You'll also have to take a lot of classes that you don't want to, and will not help you achieve your learning goal. I learned absolutely nothing at this school, and essentially paid 35k a year to make collages and play with popsicle sticks."

"Graduated from this school in 2011 with a BFA in fine arts. Overall I would not recommend going here to young people. The school is very for-profit driven, they are inflexible with their tuition policies and inter-departmental transferring (I tried to transfer from art to design at the beginning of my sophomore year and was told I’d essentially have to take, and pay for, the entire first year over again- they’re nearly identical curriculums. I had to therefore supplement this very expensive education with more design certifications and tons of professional struggles post-college). Cornish also likes to unnecessarily gouge young people for many thousands of dollars (I had a friend who had financing trouble in her Junior year and wasn’t able to continue. She found out a few days after the withdrawal date and they decided to charge her the full semester anyway: about $15,000 which they sent to collections. She’s still fighting the bad credit score to this day). The Fine Art Department really pushes a “studio artist” career path which is only realistic for about .5% of the students who attend. They have no real career training for illustration, branding, design, etc. for that department, so most students are left with a completely useless and expensive degree. That all being said, I was able to learn a lot about critical thinking, history, philosophy, visual principles, and project management that I use in my career as a UX Designer today, so at least that’s something. I got most of my lifetime benefits from this school from the non-core discipline faculty and got almost all of the skills and practical career benefits of my education from community college courses I took after Cornish. If you’re considering attending Cornish for Fine Art, do yourself a favor and go to a much less expensive university where you can double major in art and design. You’ll get a much more valuable and well-rounded education that way that will be more flexible for what real life has to throw your way later, plus be saddled with far less student debt if you can’t pay for school outright."

"The cornish fine arts department does a disservice to students who take their art practice seriously. they encourage flowery complicated language during the critique and writing process which doesn't translate to those outside of the institutional art world. they do not offer art history courses. fine art students with different goals are put into one group and given a small variety of studio options. anyone who wants to learn a specific trade is encouraged to pursue it "in their own time". There is a high drop out rate for a reason."
