"I found Checkmat Portland by accident as they were located at the gym where I was lifting weights. I had trained in the past and was hoping to get back on the mat, but wanted to find the right situation. I had been to some other academies and did not really feel at home. Professor Junior saw me eyeballing the mats while I was lifting and began talking to me about training. I told him I had trained before and that I was considering it.
