"The Sandy Jug is a perfect neighborhood bar. The recent remodel resulted in a cozy time capsule that takes me back to the 70’s with its dim swag lights and velvet paintings. They took care to preserve parts of the old bar and highlight the architectural details of the jug. A small but carefully selected draft beer list should please all and I was stoked to see Von Ebert’s award winning IPA on tap. The food won’t be the best you’ve ever had, but will be exactly what you’re looking for to pair with a NW IPA at a fair price point. Expect dive bar food done to perfection such as perfectly crisp tots and a flavorful chopped cheese sandwich . The bartenders have crushed lines on each visit I’ve had. Some folks seem to have not yet soaked up the take it easy vibe of the place. Music has always been a well-curated adventure into the past. The heated outside area does a great job of hiding the busy street and was the perfect spot to soak up some sun on a recent February spring fake out. Looking forward to happy hours with a book, a game with friends and maybe glimpsing a ghost of strippers past. This project gave a heartbeat to an area that has really needed it and hope it becomes a 3rd place to many Roseway folks. Cheers to the future and a glass tip to the past of this newly polished gem."

"Food is typical for a bar, nothing exciting. Only one bartender to take care of everything, so you will wait in line forever (especially during happy hour) and will not be helped at your table for anything. It was freezing since they had the back door open for the patio area. So when people walk in the front door, the draft is highly apparent."

"Great new dive! Ordered drinks and food at the bar and the food came out super fast - had a chopped cheese sandwich and fries which was really great. Will come back to try more late night food. Will also be back for happy hour. Glad to have this great revival in the neighborhood."

"Petition to have Google remove the old reviews for this spot — for those unfamiliar, this used to be a strip club but has been renovated into a great bar. A small but great selection of food and cocktails, with vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Super cute atmosphere and fun to know you’re sitting in a part of Portland history — the jug is one of the last examples of programmatic architecture in the city! Great outdoor patio with a covered section and heaters. A much needed addition to Roseway! So happy it’s been packed during these first few weeks — let’s hope it stays that way."

"First stop at the new iteration of the jug! It has a good atmosphere! Surprisingly large outdoor area, obviously the inside seating is fairly limited. I had the club deluxe, and would definitely get it again it's a solid sandwich. Overall I'd say it's a good new addition to the neighborhood, and I'll definitely be back. Btw gems are tots."
