The Blake at Kingsport

"Treats their residents terribly, undermines serious health issues, and is also incompetent when it comes to their employees and taxes! FYI – when an employee lives in the state of Virginia, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE OUT VIRGINIA TAXES! During my time at The Blake I had witnessed several staff members, including NURSES, who were seriously neglectful. When I reported this behavior, AS I WAS REQUIRED TO DO, I was met with nothing but snide remarks or was told that there was nothing that could be done. One nurse would leave the building during her shifts, one event in which I had to sit for almost an hour with a resident who had fallen while calling on a cheap walkie talkie for her to come help. If your nurses and staff are more worried about getting with their partners in the parking lot or smoking cigarettes out by the dumpsters, clearly you have hired the wrong staff. If you truly care for and love your family members, please do not allow them to stay here. Their health and wellbeing means nothing to the administration – they truly are only in it for the money. I do hope State paid them a visit after I left and that many of the issues were brought to their attention."

"I really don't want to give this place even 1 star dang pa aee useless I would never in my lifetime let this place look over my love one , my wife worked here what you seen behind closed doors this place needs to be shut down lead pa crew couldn't take care of a dog unless elder people Stay Clear of this god awful place if you got loved one her I deeply advise you move them"

"I am so grateful for the staff at The Blake. When my mother was navigating her move, everyone was so helpful and sensitive to her needs. Tramara Darnell, Director of Sales, walked us through the application process, moving in details, and everything in between. My mother is now more active and social than she has been in years. She comments daily that various staff members have helped her in some way or have stopped by to say hello and check in on her. Our family is so thankful that Mom is in a safe, comfortable, and active environment such as this."

"The Blake at Kingsport has been wonderful to my mom since she arrived in late Oct 2022. They worked hard to get her in and worked quickly with her doctors to ensure she could get in within 4 days. They have went above and beyond with her constant requests to change rooms now that she can move to Assisted Living instead of Memory Care. Hoping mom can stay there until she graduates."

"This facility is abominable. The lack of care that is shown. Gee look at their Facebook page notice anything missing? They only show the assisted living side they are ashamed to show the memory care side. AL side gets catered events the MC side gets scrapes. They are like most businesses sadly and only care about making money. They figure the memory care residents won’t remember anyway. But they are people too. They deserve as much care and attention as the other side of the house. The only redeeming thing I saw there when visiting a friend’s grandmother was the lady who runs their activities she seems to go out of her way to help. And the turn over rate I noticed with the staff is extremely high. Wonder why that is?? Is they are not trained properly or that management doesn’t treat them right? That I can’t speak since I’m not employed there but it is something to think about when choosing a place to put your loved ones."
