Reviews
"There weren't very many people here when I hiked up on Memorial Day. I meant to hike the North Head Trail, but having never been here before, I started up the wrong trail. I'm glad it happened that way because if it hadn't, I wouldn't have known about this charming old battery. The forest was lush and green and looked like a fairy land. I would totally revisit this place. We went into the battery to look around. It was pretty cold inside, as well as dark and echoey, but very intriguing."
"Very cool. Definitely worth the short hike up the hill. Bring a flashlight or headlamp for exploring inside. It’s underground, dark, and cell phone lights don’t cut it very well."
"Short 0.5 mile out and back hike to an incredible piece of history. It's open to explore and has much more to see than expected. It is inside a state park so there's a $10 day use fee, unless you have a state recreation pass."
"Where do I start? First of this is short hike .25 miles but it’s quite steep since it’s all uphill but that being said it’s so worth it. You get to see these old buildings and beautiful views as you hike up. Make sure to get to the very top because there is one really neat spot with the best view that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. That view was breathtaking. So glad I checked it out."
"This place is one of the few gun batteries that is located in a State Park where its been abandoned for years. The trail is good, but difficult because its steep. If you go, bring mosquito repellent, because they are viscous at this site."
