"The War Between the States or Civil War was brutal. Can you imagine fighting in the Battle of Buford, in the swamps, and muck with mosquito biting, and hot lead streaming by and striking skin. All the while cannon fodder blowing up your family and friends right before your eyes. "A humbling experience. These men gave their lives for my freedom and yours. Great historical site! I'm from out of town and knew nothing of Buford's massacre until I drove by this monument. It was well worth the stop! Lots of great info about the battle that happened right here! It's a clean park with picnic tables and a porta-potty"
