"My kids loved visiting Ballard Pediatric Dentistry. The office is impeccable and well designed for children. Dr. Mamiko and everyone in her team are very experienced, friendly and fun. We will never forget the care and assurance we received during an emergency visit when my toddler tripped on some stairs and completely knocked-out his upper front tooth, summer of 2021. Sadly, the office no longer takes our dental insurance."

"Love love Dr. Mamiko and the hygienists but I had the SAME experience as other reviewers where the practice dropped our insurance (Premera, a major insurance company for this area) and never said a thing until giving us a huge bill. Never said "oh, by the way, it looks like we're out of network for you now". I finally realized the issue and immediately transferred our kids care. When my husband called to cancel their next appointment the receptionist asked if this was due to insurance so I don't think this is a surprise for them. On top of that, we had a receptionist rudely ask us to put a mask on my daughter, who was two and didn't need one per their own rules. I was masked myself. No apology, just "oh, she looked older." Again, the dental staff is amazing and so good with kids, but the way they manage their practice is really not great."

"BEWARE SHADY BILLING PRACTICES Dr. Mamiko and the hygienists are fine but look out for shady billing practices. We have moved on to another dentist after BPD suddenly stopped accepting our insurance and didn't tell us in advance of our appointment. When I showed up with my two kids for their cleaning, I was told I had a $400 credit on my account so my bill for the day would "only" be ~$180 -- higher than I had ever paid but we had been going there for years so proceeded and figured it'd be our last time there. I thought the credit was to make up for the jaw dropping cost of paying out of pocket, but months later I get a bill for $400. Turns out Premera had overpaid them for a previous service and they passed that along as a credit rather than recognizing the mistake and returning the overpayment to Premera. I told them I wouldn't have accepted services if I had known it was going to cost almost $600 but they have refused to own their mistake and eat the cost. I wonder now if they LOST insurance coverages because the insurers don't want to to work with them or found them to be overcharging/ submitting erroneously."

"We love Dr Mamiko, and have had only positive experiences with her and her office staff! She is very engaging and sweet with my kids. I highly recommend her to everyone! The previous posts about insurances are unfair - her office sent out letters clarifying the insurance policy change earlier this year."
