"I really wanted to like this credit union. I loved that they are local and all of the tellers were friendly. But I would never bank here again. I was only with Westconsin for about year and had nothing but issues with them. The biggest one being when I closed the account, I asked for the remaining account balance in cash, but the banker talked me into a money order saying it “never expired and is easier to handle then cash.” How wrong the statement was! Because of that statement I didn’t feel pressure to find a new bank asap and it ended up being over a year later before I found a bank and tried to deposit the money order, which was denied because of its age and my new bank told me to go back to the bank it was issued at to cash it. When I went back to Westconsin to cash it, they wouldn’t honor it because it was “over a year old” even when they themselves told me it didn’t expire!! They told me I had to contact a third party, MoneyGram to get the money order reordered (luckily the money order was from me to me- imagine if it was made by someone else!). Long story short, after appealing my denied case with MoneyGram, everyone I talked to there assured me this was an issue with Westconsin. I had to go back to Westconsin twice more, spending so much of my time and energy and even doing my own research in the legality of money orders before the bank finally cashed the money order. But not without fining me what ended up being a $65 fee (charged per month since date of issuing). I am furious that no banker or teller told me that I’d be charged per month if I didn’t cash the money order within a year (and that fee went retroactively back until the date of issue.) I was told that the banker who closed my account probably wasn’t aware of the expiration date, but even still, his mistake cost me actual money. The bank should be liable for that and have waived the fee. Either own up to your mistake, or be transparent in your policies. If you don’t want to LOOSE money, bank with someone else."

"On 9/10/21 I went to the River Falls branch of the WESTconsin credit union. I was going to put some documents in my safe deposit box. I was denied access to my safe deposit box. After 40 minutes of waiting to speak to someone. I was told that I was removed from the box by my deceased father in January of 2020. I was told that someone but not myself now has access. I informed the branch manager that my fathers and my accounts were drained of thousands of dollars in January of 2020 by a fraudster. And that someone at the River Falls branch was able to recover our funds and informed me nothing else was affected by the fraudster. I have paid the rent on the safe deposit box and have accessed the box several times since January 2020. I also showed legal documentation. WESTconsin credit union refused to inform me of who now has access to my belongings. I was told that it was being sent to another department. I may have access to my belongings in a week or never depending on the outcome. I also informed them that my online accounts had three outside accounts linked to them. They could not inform me of whos or what accounts these are. I am sorry to say that WESTconsin credit union values fraudsters privacy over its own customers."

"Been a member since 2016. At each different location we are greeted politely, some known by face or even name. It gives you that safe feeling, that you need with your financial institution. This particular location, is by far my favorite. I'm very outgoing so I'm always telling crazy stories and trying to entertain. I just love how every time I come here I'm greeted with a warm smile and a quick hello. It's great to see genuine people who love their jobs."
