About the Business

Cardiff Beach

Cardiff Beach, located at 2500 South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, California, is a beautiful natural feature on the San Diego Coast. Known as the Riviera of the West, this beach offers a gently sloping sandy shore with warm waters, perfect for swimming, surfing, and beachcombing. Dogs are welcome at Cardiff Reef and Seaside areas, as long as they are kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet.

Visitors can enjoy the convenience of beach wheelchairs, available for use at the San Elijo State Beach Campground entrance. A Mobi Mat is also placed at Lifeguard Tower 15 during the summer season to provide easier access to the beach. Lost and found services are located at the campground for any misplaced items.

Parking at Cardiff Beach is subject to a day use fee of $12-$25 per vehicle, or a valid annual California State Parks Vehicle Day Use Pass. Camping is not permitted at this location. The beach is a popular surfing spot in San Diego County, so the parking lot tends to be busy year-round. If there is no staff person at the park entrance kiosk, visitors can pay the parking fee at the Automated Pay Machine located near the restrooms.

For those interested in hosting a special event at Cardiff Beach, reservations can be made online. For any questions or concerns regarding concessionaire contracts in the San Diego Coast District, inquiries can be sent to SDCD.Concessions@parks.ca.gov. With its stunning coastline and array of amenities, Cardiff Beach is a must-visit destination for beach lovers in Southern California.

"A beautiful wide beach with public bathrooms: always a plus. The water is rather cool, but people still swim and surf till sundown. Dogs are allowed on the beach. This too is a plus. The parking is for a full day only, so plan accordingly."

"Lovely beach and views and totally dog friendly as long as leashed. My 3 fur babies thoroughly enjoyed it. $8 parking for 2 hours."

"An amazing slice of heaven. This is definitely a North County gem. You can park right up next to the beach. Must visit this spot!!"

"Beautiful little beach, popular for families with little kids. If you don’t want to pay for parking look for spots along the side of the road, it’s still right on the beach. Also if you want to get away from all the kids just walk a little ways down the beach. BTW, if you want to have the whole place to yourself, even in tourist season, come after sunset. Bring a light jacket, couple chairs it’s all yours. Stargaze, watch the waves, look for ships at sea and UFOs. So nice."
