"I choose this company based on the strength of their Google reviews. My GE refrigerator that I purchased slightly over 4 years ago was not working well where the coils would frost up every 3-4 weeks and the thermostat could not maintain a cool temperature when the refrigerator got into that state. Appliance Repair refused to honor the terms of their public ad to refund the cost of service call if I proceeded with the repair. Although the technician that came to my house probably diagnosed the cause of the issue, the estimated cost of the repair was very high at $668 -- $468 for parts and $200 labor. I explained to both the technician and service representative that I wanted to discuss the situation with GE before initiating repairs. GE offered to ship the replacements parts from the manufacturer for free -- thermostat, fan and heating element -- to my house. However Appliance Repair refused to complete the repair giving the puzzling explanation that they have to use the parts from their parts distributor. It is easy to speculate why they declined: Appliance Repair is most likely making a significant commission from purchasing parts from their distributor at inflated costs. This should have been disclosed to the customer (me) before embarking on the service visit. My understanding was that Appliance Repair was supposed to apply the costs of the diagnostic repair but since Appliance Repair declined to do the repair, the cost of the visit should be refunded to me. I made this request and they declined to refund me. As a result, I had to go to a reputable shop to do the repair who would be willing to do the repair with the parts provided by the manufacturer. In conclusion, I find Appliance Repair to be unethical and unprofessional. I would strongly caution against using any of their repair services."
