"Dr. Persaud was not thorough with my treatment, nor did he actually seem to care about my betterment and well-being. I say this not out of animosity but to share my experiences so that others may be spared a poor experience with their mental health treatment. Over a period of almost a year, we attempted two different medications with little to no success, and each time he would prescribe them without fully discussing all the potential side-effects, to which I had many including allergic reactions. Once we were on the medications he prescribed, he kept messing up the doses written on the prescriptions for me to take to the pharmacy. I had to call the Doctor several times to have him call in corrections to his own slips on multiple occasions. This was not surprising as each time I would see the doctor, he would have no clue about my personal details or medications without referencing his notes... many of the details in his notes were incorrect and I would have to constantly correct him on each visit. As an aside, once I had arrived for my 8am appointment to a locked door and no sign of the Doctor until 15min had passed. In addition to all of this, recently I was very sick and missed an appointment. Out of dozens of appointments we had scheduled, this is the only time this happened and I admit it was my fault. What I take issue with is that instead of calling or checking in on me, I simply received a bill for a missed appointment while I was recouperating. While that is standard procedure and I understood that I could be charged, the fact that he never once called or checked in on me made me believe that he truly didn't care about me as a patient. Mental health treatment is very important, but even moreso is the wellfare of the patients under the care of a physician, and I feel as though the care under this physician was lacking. Coupling these experiences with all the other problems I encountered during my time under his care, I would not recommend seeing Dr. Persaud under any circumstances."
