About the Business

Westside School of Ballet, located in Santa Monica, California, is the oldest and most successful public ballet school in Los Angeles. Founded in 1967 by Yvonne Mounsey of New York City Ballet and Rosemary Valaire of Royal Ballet, the institution is dedicated to excellence in training and the development of students as artists. With a team of experienced teachers who have performed with professional companies worldwide, students receive exceptional training that has led to scholarships with major ballet company schools and summer programs for nearly 50 years.

The school's performing division, Westside Ballet, is Southern California's premier pre-professional training company, with approximately 100 dancers aged 8 to 18. Students at all levels, from Creative Movement to Level 7, have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the Year End Demonstration. Many alumni have gone on to dance with renowned professional companies such as New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and San Francisco Ballet.

Project RELEVÉ allows supporters to contribute to Westside Ballet's programs, including professional performances, scholarship opportunities, and partnerships with community organizations to promote ballet in Los Angeles. Donations to the non-profit Westside Ballet of Santa Monica are greatly appreciated, as they help sustain the institution's legacy of excellence in ballet training.

"Great school. We take summer intensive ballet program for the second year here and my daughter loves it. The teachers are very pleasant and knowable. Front desk stuff are nice but not always helpful, I think they should be more organized. Overall great ballet school."

"Far more qualified teachers than other schools. Focusing on both enjoyment, improvement of skills and confidence building for kids of all ages. My child became an independent thinker and yet also learned to work within a team / group at the same time. Excellent environment and very patient teachers for both kids and adults. They also hold 8 to 10 performances a year if kids wish to participate. Adult classes are very convenient on weekends and evenings. The teachers will definitely give you a great workout. Highly recommended"
