"After an incredibly unfortunate, and very much preventable circumstance yesterday, we won't be returning. We are recent additions to the Miyagi experience and have had some decent days, including a birthday party for my child. However there have been a number of times where no one is held accountable when some of the children sometimes cross boundaries (ie jumping on top of each other in foam pit, taking toys from one another, climbing on top of and over each other to gain a preferred toy, and yes, sometimes hitting each other) I have literally only ever seen ONE other parent get involved (after their child had been left unattended for 20mins) and I have personally gotten involved with breaking children up once things escalate to being a physical or emotional experience for one. Today, my child was hit in the face with a free weight. My child is 3, other child was younger. welt on his forehead swelled for hours. In an environment that is supposed to prioritize the safety of these kiddos that they market themselves as an available space for. Yes, it's MY responsibility to watch after my child. NO, it is not my responsibility to babysit other parents. I do not blame the young child who hit mine... Kids do mucked up things sometimes, 99% of the time with no ill intent. What I really didn't appreciate was that every other adult involved made it seem as though all of the weight was all on this small being apologizing to my child. Like her being forced to feel guilty (not a possibility at this age) will rectify the fact that the gym itself has unsafe equipment available to the littles which is what ultimately CAUSED this to happen. But not just that, it's the fact that I've never seen this establishment encourage the parents to follow through or intervene with any wrangling, guiding, demonstrating, correctimg or facilitating when conflict does arise. BTW this is not my first incident with the kiddos from this particular family and the gym has shown me today that they did not care about my son feeling safe there. Owner was completely oblivious, then immediately defensive after showing more comradery to the familiar family than showing my son compassion. Jessica however very clearly cared and absolutely understand how dangerous that was (three kids running and playing and [one of them] hitting other kids with two sets of free weights- bc literally access and one friggin second is ALL THEY NEED) and she was saddened it all happened which I was grateful to see. That's not enough. No reaching out. No offer to reimburse (clear annoyance in fact when I requested one). No offers or incentives for my son to return and maintain a fun relationship with gymnastics, their gym, or their staff. They showed they are FINE with ending their relationship with my son on a negative and painful note. I am sick and tired of youth orientated establishments treating us like we're lucky to have them or have a space where our kiddos are tolerated so they operate on low standards. Done. Other gyms are more interactive, have newer equipment, are cleaner and have fewer spaces where you have to hover around your child bc there aren't bins and piles and corners that aren't supposed to be available."

"I don’t like writing bad reviews but I feel I should because as a mom I would want to know if a place was unsafe for my children. Miyagi DOES NOT secure their dumbbell weights during the Tot Open Gym! Today when I was there playing with my child another child had grabbed two of their 3 or 5 pound (I couldn’t tell) dumbbells and walked right over to our 3-year-old friend and HIT HIM IN THE HEAD with a dumbbell! His forehead immediately swelled up with a huge bump and bruise. This business should have no business holding open gym play for kids 5 years and younger when there are unsecured dumbbells that they can get to. I will not be taking my kids back until the weights are LOCKED UP! No, not just in a better hiding place, they should be securely locked, so there’s no way a child can get ahold of them and harm others or themselves. Oh and by the way, there was no remorse or compensation from the business owner for the family whose child was injured. In the meantime, I will be going to the other gyms in the area."
