"This is the real deal, taught by a true warrior with a heart of gold. Bak Fu Sifu will teach you real Wing Chun Kung Fu if you have the patience and resolve, and guaranteed you will learn to protect the safety and health of you and your family. He will open his home to you and you'll become part of a great extended family who lives by Ip Man's code of conduct, most importantly to live life with honor and respect. Bak Fu's school is run out of his home and the lineage is strong, connected directly to his sifu and founder of Hawaii Wing Chun Association, Yeung Tin Yao (Robert Yeung, student of Wong Chok and Wong Long Ching, who were first generation students of Ip Man). Sincerely, and with great respect, Sifu Mike Pollard, Pacific Wing Chun Association on the Big Island of Hawaii, and member of Hawaii Wing Chun Association"
"Alan Bak Fu Vasquez is not respected in the local Wing Chun community nor in Hong Kong by his own SiGung. He is known to speak poorly about his Grandmasters, former students and other Wing Chun sifus and martial artists. His lack of good character and desire to spread negativity is sad for the local WC community. He is undeserving of anyone's trust and esteem."
"This is the best Wing Chun school in Orange County. I have trained under Bak Fu since 1998 and am a graduate of the school certified by the VTAA in Hong Kong in 2003. This is not a buy the belt kung fu school like so many in this area of the world. Sifu Bak Fu is a retired Vietnam Vet, he was a Ranger and was special forces. He has extensive experience real life combat situations, this school does not teach the high tech tag games based on points that so many others schools base their experience on. Sifu Bak Fu lives for Wing Chun currently teaching out of his house as so many Wing Chun instructors have done for years including the late grandmaster Ip Man. Our current grandmaster Wong Long is still alive and teaching in Hong Kong, Bak Fu makes frequent trips to visit him as well as our affilaite schools in Hawaii that were founded by Robert Yeung. Bak Fu was one of the senior students of Robert Yeung in Hawaii. This sifu truly loves Wing Chun and openly teaches his students everything they are willing to learn. He teaches the whole system and he's not looking to just "fill his rice bowl" like so many other schools. He wants to make teachers out of all of his students. I'm honored to call myself his student. This system of Wing Chun works in real life situations; I have used it to defend my own life as well as successfully teaching my students to defend themselves. THIS SYSTEM IS GREAT FOR WOMEN!!! One of my students whom is a 105lb girl of 19 years old was at a night club where she was attacked by a man; This guy grabbed her arm and attempted to have his way with her; she retaliated punched him out all the way to the floor when security got to him she said they had to take a double take at her and said "They couldn't believe what she did that to a GUY AT LEAST TWICE HER SIZE!!!!!" THIS SCHOOL TEACHES GREAT SELF DEFENSE THAT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE."
"Knowledge, Experience, Ferocity, Honorable, Dedicated. I was blessed to study under Alan Vasquez for 6 years, and would not trade that experience for anything in the world. Alan is a Viet Nam Veteran and Special Forces Op Captain Retired. Experience and knowledge is what he has to offer, you know he is the real deal when he begins to teach a group. No ego heads allowed in class and if You are dedicated you will progress, and learn an art that is very refined and very deadly from one of the best!"
"I have known Bak Fu for almost 6 years now, and while I can understand where Gary comes from (that is, if you're coming from a different lineage and are intent on comparing without truly taking the time to understand our own), I would not trade my time with Bak Fu for anything. His school truly teaches one to develop their own gung fu, and to develop their own method of fighting - IF you can push past your own personal plateaus. While the teaching style may be very unorthodox compared to many other Western studios, I have had people remark to me how it reminds them of how they were taught kung fu by their own grandparents, mentors, and family members, and how pleased they were to find another kwoon that espoused that approach. My best advice is: try it out, and if you don't like it, find another school to your liking. Wing Chun was never meant to keep all students - only the ones that can continue to pursue it and make it work for them."
