"We don't usually write reviews, but this is one that we wished to write, should it help others. Words cannot express how grateful we are that we have found this amazing place! Our 14 year old daughter suddenly became very sick, first with cardiac symptoms that were attributed to Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, followed by a gradual deterioration of her walking and balance. She also developed a noise and light sensitivity, and suffered from extreme fatigue and brain fog. Within a few weeks, she was using a wheelchair and was no longer able to attend school or any other of her usual activities. She continued to deteriorate for several months which really worried us, as she missed about 3 months of school. We could not find similar services in Canada, and FND was mostly dismissed as a temporary condition that kids bounce back from fairly quickly. She was receiving physiotherapy and psychology sessions once a week, without much improvement. Doing research, we came across RE+Active and booked a session with Chelsea to understand what they offered. Based on that interaction, her energy and care, we knew that we had to travel to Torrance to give RE+Active a try, no matter the cost. We knew we made the right decision immediately during our first session with Lincoln (working as a team with Chelsea, Jenna, Lian and Eva). Their level of expertise with this disorder is impressive- it was very obvious that they knew exactly what was wrong, and had multiple strategies to work with. Members of this team are clearly very passionate about their work. They are dedicated, dynamic, caring and compassionate, and work very closely as a team. By the end of her third week in the program, our daughter was able to walk again and stop using her wheelchair. Her other symptoms also improved significantly. We cried tears of joy as we witnessed our daughter's functioning dramatically improved by the end of the program. The team also really focussed on helping our daughter learn to manage her symptoms with the use of various skills and strategies, which was very empowering for her. They helped her develop a plan to gradually return to school, which she has since been able to successfully accomplish. As a parent, this was a life changing event and we will be forever grateful for Re+Active. Thank you so so much, Chelsea, Jenna, Lincoln, Eva and Lian!"
