CPT Autopilot

"Update to former post... Have been at sea using the CPT Autopilot since September, 2018. Have sailed from Monterey to Morro Bay then to Avila then to Santa Cruz Island then to Santa Barbara then to Catalina then to Long Beach then to San Diego. Bottom line is that I've had plenty of different conditions and duration to test the autopilot. It has not failed once and keeps us sharply on waypoint course. We actually had our brand new Garmin GPS fail (it was spinning in circles) and we had gained so much trust in the autopilot that we continued for an hour with it on and when the chart plotter started behaving again the auto pilot had kept us on our waypoint to within a few hundred feet over 10 miles. Jeff has been great and continually proactively calls us to check in on how we are doing and to give us additional tips. There are so many challenges with boats and things going wrong that having someone like Jeff and his autopilot on our side is just a breath of fresh air and makes life easier just when you need it! Old post... Bought a CPT six months ago in preparation for a circumnavigation with my family. I have several friends who are experienced sailors who recommended it. Jeff, the owner of the company, came out (my boat is currently docked in Moss Landing) and delivered it personally then spent one hour installing it without asking for any extra pay. Two months later he knocked on my boat, without my even calling him or knowing why he was stopping by, and took the CPT off of my boat to give it a program upgrade they had just completed without charging me. He delivered it back to me a week or so later and gave me a new bracket they had developed for it at no extra charge. He then offered to go on a sea trial with me to test it. A month or so later we went on a sea trial and, instead of testing the autopilot, my shaft started banging in the shaft log (this was a brand new issue that only occurred at sea). Jeff skipped talking about the autopilot, helped me dive on the prop and come up with solutions and addressing the issue. He insisted on coming over the next day and spent four hours with me working on my engine alignment and going through the engine room. He refused payment. This review isn't about the quality of the CPT (we are scheduled to go out on another sea trial in a few days and I hope to give a second review at that time), but is about the character and quality of the person in charge of the company. He is a fellow sailor and loves to fix things and help people. To say that he went above and beyond is a massive understatement. The world would be a much nicer place if all people conducted business in this manner. I'm very grateful."
