Diversity in Health Training Institute

Diversity in Health Training Institute, located at 310 8th Street in Oakland, California, is dedicated to expanding and diversifying the healthcare workforce by connecting immigrants to healthcare career pathways in the United States. Our mission is to qualify immigrants for healthcare careers through partnerships with educators and employers.

Our Healthcare Career Pathways program helps newcomers with healthcare backgrounds re-enter or enter healthcare careers in the U.S. We offer free training in allied healthcare courses, work-readiness workshops, paid internships or on-the-job training, and assistance in navigating a healthcare career. Additionally, our Community Wellness program connects immigrant, refugee, and asylee communities to social services and mental health resources to create healthier communities.

Established in 2011, DHTI was founded to address the shortage of qualified healthcare workers who can meet the language and cultural needs of the growing immigrant population in East Bay, Northern California. Our vision is to create a more diverse and inclusive healthcare system in the U.S. and address the inequitable health outcomes faced by immigrants and limited-English speakers. We aim to improve health outcomes and increase access to healthcare services for underserved immigrant populations and marginalized groups.
