Menifee Valley Middle School

"I had to pull my son out of public school and enroll him in a private homeschool program for 8th grade because of this school. He's a very bright, kind kid who would never be malicious to anyone. He was bullied mercilessly by various groups of kids, who are basically allowed to run the school. Even the principal tried to play the, "they said they were joking around, playing a game, and your son misunderstood," angle when I finally insisted that something be done about it - in this particular case, 3 bullies were following him around between classes, loudly mocking him and calling him various obscenities and homophobic phrases, calling him gay because he had long hair (he's not gay, but whether he was or not it's never ok for kids to be allowed to do this to another kid and get away with it) - I can imagine how tough it must be at this school for anyone perceived as different). Students were stealing his gym clothes because they knew how to break into the cheap locks (very easy), and when he'd report it, his PE teacher would get mad at HIM for inconveniencing him with the news, mark down his grade for not having gym clothes, then either send him to the office or assign him to stay in the locker room to search for his stolen clothes all period long as punishment. We had to buy him 4 sets of clothes for PE. He was a Childhood Absence Epileptic, so I had worked with the school nurse to create a plan in which his neurologist gave a note that he could run with the class, but could not be pushed to make a mile time, as vassalva/bearing down etc had history of inducing seizure activity - the PE teachers consistently ignored this, told me he was being lazy and marked him down for not making the mile in under 10 minutes. His English teacher was a sexist, and would only call on girls, showed blatant bias against all the boys, and even sat them separately, segregated into one side of the class boys and one side girls. His science teacher constantly preached biases and expressed great disgust for students being part of any religion, stating things like, "This is why there is no God," and other propaganda during lessons time. When he stood up for his right not to dissect animals as a vegetarian and asked politely for alternate work, she replied, "there's no way you'll get away with this in High School." As a teacher SHOULD KNOW, it is the law that any student has a right to choose an alternate assignment rather than mutilating animals (even in High School). The stories just get worse and worse. I feel like a horrible parent for sending him there the 2 years he was there.☹️"

"My two sons have experienced bullying and public humiliation by the school's P.E. teacher. Porsha Dittmore has pushed my kids who have asthma and other health issues to run, no exceptions. My middle son called her a name in 2015/2016 after she harassed him .It was said under his breath, but a classmate heard and "reported" this. I was called and when I got down to what actually took place I felt she did not deserve an apology. Porsha Dittmore has had a vendetta against my family ever since. When my youngest son started attending the school the following year, he was assigned to her. In no time I had to report her for publicly humiliating him in front of her class to Mr. Walsh. I assumed he addressed her about it.I had a prior complaint about a Science teacher doing the same thing .He told me that he wasn’t allowed to tell me what actions are taken against teachers or students. The science teacher however became super supportive afterwards and I didn’t hold a grudge. Even though she was present at a later date for this child's I.E.P and knew he had some issues, she continued blaming and shaming him in front of his classmates. My child wanted to kill himself and when I went to Menifee School District about this, because the Principle was in a "MEETING", they assured me something would be done. I had to threaten to embarrass her and the district would be shamed with her . Today it’s another year and my youngest son was bullied by PORSHA DITTMORE once more. I actually thought she moved on to another school or district. Don't trust schools to discipline bad teachers."
