"Mistake prone. Lack of accountability. Overall a poor post office, try going to any of the other great local offices instead of this terrible branch. Update for 2024. This branch is still poor, occasional good service, but expect to politely insist. Other area post offices are better."
"When it comes to handling complaints, there are two types of companies in the world. There's the company that treats the complaint as a disease and the company that treats the complaint as an opportunity. Based on my experience, the Arcata post office falls into the latter category. The attitude I encountered was almost as if serving customers was an inconvenient hassle that was tolerated at best. Not a positive experience. Takes forever. Employees don't seem like they love their jobs. You are serving a customer, not a life sentence. Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning. It costs 7 times more to convert a new customer than to retain an existing customer. The old saying "the customer is always right" makes for good business arithmetic."
"Tom was great, friendly, helped me with costs and options, with exact respect for my needs. I was mailing a birthday present. I was delighted to see Tom care about the personal value and write "Fragile" on ALL 6 sides of the box! Lastly, I left forgetting my cane and Notebook! Both postal workers were attentive to notice and they kept my stuff safe until I returned to get it! Outstanding. Workers hold the true and traditional values of the Post Office!"
"TERRIBLE location, INCOMPETENT STAFF! Stay AWAY! Clerks don’t know how to check and verify international customs form. Packages get returned back to you after you spent hundreds of dollars! General manager of the location refuses to help with refund! STAY AWAY, BAD SERVICE, go to Bayside location instead. You may waste your time and money here"
"Went in to renew my sons passport. Was unaware that i had to make an appointment & bring him in. The man at the register was short tempered & rude instead of simply providing me with information that would help me complete the application properly. I asked him why he was being rude & he replied that it had been a long day. I worked in customer service for many years and there is never an excuse to treat customers rudely. I made an appointment at the Eureka post office and they were friendly and helpful."
