"I am from the class of "89" . Which was also the first graduating class at this campus! Mine is one of the many handprints that lay in front of the school. I also watched this school be built from the rubles of the old Pelton to the mighty school it is now. I am sadden to read it has went down so because it had such a promising beginning. Many of my fellow classmates graduated college and moved on to do great things. I remember this place as a fun, entertaining and just a jewel in my day. The teachers were kind, knowledgeable and champions in their fields. I yearn for the days of Mrs Thompson, Mrs Holland, Mrs Leonard, Ms Floor and Mr Gueterez. They were teachers that really cared! Now that I'm in my 40's I sit back and reflect fondly. I hate that it seems like the staff has given up and just doesn't care anymore. In it's prime, this was the place to be! We had all the programs and lots of the inner city Eisenstein's to take advantage of the great things this school had to offer. I hope that MLK could rise like a Phoenix from its failures and return to the school I am proud to say I went to!"
"As an upcoming alumni, I will try my best to make this review as non-biased as possible. Firstly, I'd like to say that overall I did not enjoy my three years at MLK. The school/staff itself is not as atrocious as others might describe it as. However, the students made life hell at MLK. The school is pretty clean compared to other schools. There were a handful of good teachers, but there were a fair share of bad ones to out-weigh the good ones. Security and other staff did not do their jobs. Its reputation definitely holds up as the worst school in the district."
"The staff here are the most disrespectful people I've ever met. They always are yelling at the students for no reason. Today I asked one of the racist staff to help me with my locker, he was so rude to me. He YELLED in my face that he couldn't help. He told me that I shouldn't ask him last minute when I've asked him before in the beginning of my year but he has not helped me. I said "what" he said what what what ?? Remember, I ASKED POLITELY for his help. Could he not just of said no??! instead of yelling in my face. In my opinion, this school does not deserve 4 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the security guards play favoritism and also they have no control over the lunchroom. Before asking the students to give respect, give the students respect too."
"Great school really care about there students and always help them with anything they need"
"This school is by far one of the worst in the district. The teachers are not responsive to a students need. They do not communicate with parents and over all seem to have a lack of concern for their students. The test scores reflect not only the principles attitude but that staffs. They have given up on improving their test scores or the students academic performance. A complete Embarrassment to San Francisco."
