"Up until yesterday, I was happy with this clinic. A little put off by the old-fashioned attitudes exhibited by the older staff, but that is to be expected in a smaller town compared to a bigger place like Dubuque. I had brought my son to the emergency room a few days ago. His needs were taken care of, no problem, and I was told to make a follow up appointment with his pediatrician. I inquired if I could make an appointment at the family clinic to avoid going to Dubuque, as it is a bit out of the budget to drive to Dubuque at this time (I would absolutely drive to Dubuque if I had to... My kids and their health and safety come before anything else). So, when I went to make that follow up appointment at the Dyersville family clinic, it was rather frustrating when the woman, DEBBIE, who answered the phone, wouldn't make the appointment, stating that "well he hasn't been seen since blah blah blah," and finally said that she would talk to the nurse and call me back. I had a feeling I wouldn't get a call back, so I went ahead and scheduled the follow up appointment with the next available medical associates pediatrician in Dubuque. I wasn't berated or belittled by this receptionist. I also went ahead and scheduled MORE physicals and check ups for all of my kids, as I was under the impression they were all caught up on everything... But after talking with Debbie, I doubted myself. I will always break budget and go to Dubuque from now on. I admit I wasn't exactly the easiest to talk with by the end of the call. But Debbie wouldn't help in any way or even explain why she wouldn't or couldn't make the follow up appointment. I would have understood if there was some policy or reason.... ANY AT ALL that prevented her from making the appointment, but all I got was an, "I will talk to the nurse and call you back," but I got no call back. I was a bit of a Karen, I guess, by the end of the call, but if I had to rely on the Dyersville family clinic for my children's care, they wouldn't even get care at all because the receptionist would never schedule the appointments or explain why the appointments won't or can't be made. It felt like we were not welcome."
