"I love these archives. So I wanted to know how old the orange tree in my backyard was. My neighborhood used to be an orchard and every house was left a tree. I figured that if I could get some aerials or information on who owned my property, I could get a rough estimate. The woman that was there that day was incredibly helpful and found pictures for me, aerials, and the phone book that listed the name, address and occupation of everyone that lived on the street. Turns out, I had to look in the "rural" section because we weren't Anaheim yet. Heck, we still aren't. We're lawless rebels. Anyway, it was a fascinating glimpse into the past of my immediate surroundings and she gave me helpful resources and ideas to further my knowledge of just what went down where my house stands today. There's tons of old maps, photos, history books, yearbooks, phone books, little curios, and probably more I haven't seen yet."
