Park Place Apartments

"Terrible management. Tried to charge us $3200 in moving out fees when we paid for professional cleaning before we left. My wife was pregnant with twins on bed rest and could not walk up stairs so we had to move out of the complex as there is no access to the apartments without going up stairs. They made a concession and wrote in an email that we could get out of our contract early with no additional fees. Now they are denying they ever told us that and are trying to charge us $3200 for moving out. If you want them to Way over charge you for moving out then feel free to live here. This isn’t even mentioning the fact that every other day the police were in the complex because of drug use and theft. Multiple cars being broken into all the time. Not a great place to live."

"I understand that most apartment reviews are extremely biased, but I wanted to take the time to write a fair review and mention an incident which is currently not being resolved by Elan property management. Location near to Carlsbad Village is ideal. It is a quick and safe walk evening or day and I enjoy having the option to dine at a nearby restaurant without having to drive. Everything has been in working order in regards to appliances, washer and dryer, etc... Whenever we have had an issue and a work order has been placed, maintenance has been extremely prompt and effective. Parking is where I would begin to note some cons to Park Place Apartments. In a 2bdr 2.5 bath with 2 of us, we only receive one designated parking spot. The rest of the lot is available but fills up quickly. This many times results in one of us having to find street parking relatively far away. The shared amenities need some love. The BBQs are very old, don't work well, and needed cleaning years ago. The gym should not be called a gym. Not much more needs to be said about that. Now we get to the heat of the matter. The walls are thin and the doors are heavy. Someone a mile away slams their front door and it's as if an earthquake was in your room. If someone bangs on the wall it is deafening. We unfortunately are having a horrible situation with our neighbors. They have punched a hole through their kitchen window for the second time in recent months which has resulted in glass being strewn across the parking lot. They create incessant noise, especially loud banging noises throughout all parts of the day. I have woken early in the morning in fear that someone was breaking in only to realize it is our neighbors doing something suspiciously loud on the other side of the wall. This above situation is obviously not managements' fault. But what is their fault is their inability to act or compensate us fairly due to myself and my roommate being quite literally in fear of our neighbors. I am very disappointed with their lack of service and of sincerity when it comes to keeping their fellow tenants feeling safe. I pay $2400 a month for this residence but I must say that regardless of the proximity to Carlsbad Village, I would refrain from living at Park Place Apartments. I hope you find a better option!"

"They will not return security deposit owed to me. They sent me a statement of what was owed and have sent no check. I have been emailing them for four months and they refer me to corporate. I've reached out to the corporate office Property West Residential and they do not return my phone calls or emails. Update: it has now been 8 months I follow up monthly and still have yet to receive deposit. BBB has tried to contact them and they also will not respond to BBB. Avoid this company at all costs."
