The Grove Apartments 1919 Fruitdale Avenue, San Jose, CA 95128

"I highly do not recommend these apartments! Although they are gated so many homeless people get through. I seen one shooting up by the pool while children are around. And don’t get me started with the inside of the apartments…. Roaches, “the pretty white cabinets “ start to peel off and reveals the actual color of them. Takes them months to fix whatever is needed in the apartment. And the MANAGER! extremely rude, obnoxious, and all around a horrible person. Will find any reason to not fully refund your deposit. And in conclusion do not live here find somewhere that’s worth paying over $2,000 for a place to live in San Jose."

"I wish I could give them a zero star but well...I lived in this apartment complex for 2 years and 4 months and paid $2,219.00 per month and was never late on my dues. When I moved out, they demanded $1273.36 which included my $500 security deposit and $773.36 for alleged damages. The bathroom/shower floor was from wood planks and as would normally happen it was deformed and changed its shape and look due to moisture and water drops. Question - who would install wood floor in shower room? But they did knowing it would be damaged over time. For this they are demanding $322.00 to replace the wood flooring with new wood floor as a future "surprise gift" for upcoming tenants. However, to be fair and be objective in my review where I'm intending to lay out only facts but not my personal opinion, my carpet was in a bad shape and had stains. The carpet flooring had been newly installed when I moved in and had no physical damage when I moved out. According to them it should be replaced and for replacing it they needed me to pay $484.68. I'm not a professional in carpet cleaning, therefore I can't tell whether it should be cleaned or replaced, since by CA law carpet's lifespan is 10 years if it has no damage besides stains. On top of this they are demanding additional $285.00 cleaning fee. Additionally, they are needing another $111.08 for a paint job. Future tenants I hope you understand what will happen when you move out. Good luck to you all."

"My overall experience at the Grove has been pleasant. Management has done a wonderful job with any issues I have presented and have promptly addresses them. Brian in the leasing office has been great. From touring me on my first visit, to the lease signing, and to the seemless move in process, he has been wonderful. Brian is courteous and professional and has made sure I was taken care of every step of the way. Any issues I have had Brian made sure to handle it. I highly recommend the Grove. "I have been living here now for 5 months. This review is the real deal. The guys up front are awesome and very friendly. I have no complaints about them. They are always helpful. I have had two or three repairs, all were completed within two days. It was a completely hassle free process. The buildings themselves are a little ugly on the outside, but grounds are well maintained, and all of the washer/dryers have been replaced. My unit is a good size (My husband and I are in the "coconut" floor plan) and I love that they are pet friendly, it was surprisingly hard to find pet friendly apartments in this area. We have a dog and a cat. I really enjoyed the pool in the summer as well. The gym is nice too. There is a really nice BBQ area. The sidewalks are good for walks. The leaf blowers do start at 9 am on some weekday mornings, I didn't appreciate that but it really wasn't that big of a deal. I did have an issue with some teenagers smoking pot near my unit, I informed management and they were empathetic and told me to call the police so I did and they haven't been back, I assume they live in the complex. I have never felt unsafe here. Parking here is not the best. If you don't follow the parking rules and display your pass, you will get towed. You are given one assigned spot and you are able to pay for an extra pass, but it doesn't guarantee you a space. 90% of the time this is not an issue. I have had to park by the school and walk a few times but again, I have never felt unsafe here. Overall I would recommend this place. My Husband and I plan on staying in this apartment for a few more years."
