"My wife and I established care with Lakeside Obstetrics during her pregnancy, we were cash pay patients that had paid every bill prior to being seen. I work as a travel nurse and was between contracts we at the time and were cash pay until I got insurance through the next job I started. We are fortunate enough to not live paycheck to paycheck and had plenty in savings to be cash pay before our new insurance.. The office was more concerned about prepaying than any other place I'd ever been. Before the office door even closed they were asking for pre payment. Like before a proper hello they would tell us “you need to pay before you're seen” That should have been a bit of a red flag but sure, I get it, Cash pay patients are unusual, no biggie, a little uncaring to blatantly show your priority like that but fine. We paid ahead every single time, I'll attach my entire paid balance to this review. After our first ultrasound I had some concerns about the images as the office had sent us images of our baby with their business logo plastered on the images. Almost like a coca-cola advertisement. Again, 17 years of being a nurse I've never seen advertisements on xrays, CT scans or ultrasounds. I brought this up to the office and at first the staff behind the desk called me a liar. They told me its just a small thing in the corner, and that everyone does it. Even when I showed them the images attached here they told me it was “normal”. As I said I am a Nurse but not an OB nurse so maybe this is just something I hadn't seen before Though I later called around and found out it is not the norm, not even close. In fact the OB nurses I've shown it too since have all been absolutely stunned. You can see those images as part of this review and you can see my camera roll shows that every image they sent had the same advertisement on our babies images. Around my wife's 19 week mark the office called me and told me I needed to pay for the entire birthing fee upfront. It was around 5k. I told them that seems a little early, as it wasn't even half way through the pregnancy. Still almost 5 months before birth who knows what could happen in that time. I said I'd have to think about it but would get back to them. Because I wanted to see if that was normal I called around because again, I'm not an OB nurse but this seemed a little strange. I spoke to 4 other places and all of them were blown away by how far from birth they were asking for upfront payment. The 4 places I spoke with do charge ahead of the birth for cash pay individuals but its usually 1 month before and only half of it up front. This should have been another red flag for us. I didn't even have a chance to get back to them about it because less than a few days after that they canceled all of our time sensitive appointments without telling us and dropped us as patients. The only reason we found out is because we were looking for blood test results. My wife's 20 week detailed scan was scheduled along with another follow up a few days after the scan. We had previously done a genetic screening blood draw done and were looking for the results on their online portal when we noticed our appointments no longer showed up in our online medical record. We also noticed that the previous messages we sent were gone as well. We sent a message to the provider asking what happened and were abruptly told "Your prenatal care at our offices has ended. Please find another provider for the remainder of your pregnancy," The provider canceled our time sensitive appointment 4 days prior with zero actual notice. We got a letter a few days later that said “effective immediately". There was no chance of us being able to find a new doctor, establish care and schedule the scan in less than 4 days. I've been a nurse for 17 years and seen a lot sketchy things but this just floored me. It was obviously best for us to find a new provider anyway but it's completely unethical for a provider to cancel time sensitive screenings without notice."
