"I adore this national park. The attendants are always very knowledgeable. When we stopped in they gave us a map and highlighted all of their favorite routes."
"Could have been better. How you ask? Good question. When someone says they are in a vehicle, over 8,000 lbs and you tell em to that this trail should be fine to go to, when it's not, probably not the best move. Oh well. We can only accept and move on. So many places to see in the redwoods. I did forget to bring in my passport to get stamped. Luckily I don't care about those things."
"Stopped by yesterday and asked for some recommendations for our 4 days in the area. Two women on staff. (It was not busy at all, I was in a great mood and having just a wonderful time on our road trip!). After waiting for one man to finish up, and picking out some postcards to buy, I approached the counter. One of the staff members was distracted and literally walked away in the middle of highlighting a map, giving me zero information. Like she was on auto-pilot and seemed to forget what she was doing. The other one was instantly and without any provocation: shockingly abrasive, upset and loudly complaining that she had to take over! She then pointed her aggression straight at me, refusing to answer ANY questions, telling me that she is just there to do her job, that she literally comes to this office and goes home: nothing in between! That she knows absolutely nothing about the town, the area, or the parks. I was so taken aback, and I asked her ‘isn’t this a visitor centre where I can get information?’ And she very rudely retorted that she is NOT a ranger, and if I want to know anything I have to go to one of the other Visitor Centres. I fumbled, went totally quiet, and was so confused, I shrank down and kindof backed away while she loudly repeated ‘I’m not a Ranger’ several time!!! She proceeded to glare at me while I attempted to get my cancellation stamps beside the exit door. I was humiliated and actually crying by that point, and the ink pad had been overfilled with so much liquid it overflowed and damaged my passport book. I left and tried to figure out WHAT had just happened on this beautiful hopeful day!?!? After a conversation, my husband returned about half an hour later (without me) to request the exact same thing: suggestions for fun activities during our four day stay in the area! The same woman was condescending, aggressive and rude with him as well. Just absolutely refusing to provide a single piece of information! Making comments to him about simply reading the map if he wanted to know what to do, and pointing out in a mocking way that it is VERY easy to understand. He proceeded to tell the two staff members that his wife (me) had been in half an hour ago and they had me in tears with their rudeness. They did not even react. This person should NEVER be in a position facing the public. She is a horrifying bully. Please remove her immediately."
"Closed and fenced off. No signs telling us why it is close or where else to get information."
"Rick the Ranger was very helpful with directions and patience! We followed his recommendations and had a great time. Thanks again. Off to our next adventure."
