"This has to be the worst hospital experience I ever had. On 02/15, I went to this hospital to pick up my sister; when waiting in line, the staff yelled NEXT! I walked to the counter, and this guy's body language and how he spoke to me were uncalled for. I explained I was there to see my sister. He had no care in the world, and you can see this is how he treats patients. I didn't get this guy's name due to everything going on. My sister was having a mental health episode. My heart broke seeing her like this; despite how bad she was doing, they released her, and they told me there was nothing they could do for her. She ended up going to Mills Hospital, where they properly gave her the care she needed."

"My stepfather passed away recently after a 9 year fight with cancer. Needless to say this took its toll on my mother and I. In addition to that I was experiencing an extremely abusive relationship. The two events combined and I was unable to sleep for over 3 months. Instead of being smart and getting a sleeping aid, I ended up having a nervous breakdown/ptsd. I asked the staff to please be gentle with my joints because I have been working for a year to try to build up ligament and tendon strength. A year and a half ago I could barely walk for one hour a WEEK. Due to diet and exercise and research I did on my own (my joints started failing me 30 years ago) I am now walking 2 hours a day. Multiple staff members were bullying me and hurting my joints on purpose. Anyone in the area heard me screaming and begging them to stop. I don't know why people go into Healthcare and then hurt people but that was what I experienced. I also was locked in a room and I kept begging for water but they wouldn't give me any. When I was checked into the hospital Kaiser outsourced to later they said my test showed I was dehydrated. That was after they had finally given me water at this emergency center and yet the test still showed dehydrated. My lips were split for 5 days. I hope I never end up needing the emergency workers in that facility ever again. They were pushing on all my limbs and testing all of my joints as if I was lying and I am still trying to rehab my hip after this event happened weeks ago. I have been bullied before but never physically bullied by a group of people like that. Very difficult to add that trauma on top of what I was already trying to go through."

"Called into the office directly to register as a new patient. I was directed to call the New Patient Connection Center. I tried on 3 separate occasions to contact them. They put you in a queue for 30+ min, the line rings and then they hang up on you. This last attempt, I was stuck listening to the elevator music for over an hour and then hung up on. Can't speak on the services they provide, I never got that far."

"My family had a medical emergency early last week and the San Mateo Medical Center was the only place that had urgent care that was open 24hours. The whole team helped us immediately. They were very kind and professional. They checked every vital, they kept an good eye on us and they even let a visitor stay for a while (even tho' you're not supposed to have visitors in urgent care). Both our initial care nurse (who's name I have unfortunately misplaced) and our overnight nurse (Ebony) were excellent as was Dr Johnston. The place felt safe and secure. The admissions clerk at the front desk explained everything to us and answered all my questions and the triage nurse was very thorough in assessing our situation."
