Glorietta Bay Inn

"Ok, I feel a little bad giving 4 stars for the room but I can't really give 5 for a couple of minor things I'll mention. But it's an old hotel and that's what's great about it. It's beautiful for it. But the room we had was a bit drafty around the doors which was a frustration. Didn't keep out much draft or noises. However, it really isn't something that would put me off going again for all that was great about it. Customer service was excellent. Really lovely people so helpful all the time. The breakfast included was plenty good considering the reasonable price of the room which also included parking and the breakfast for the resort fee. Not many places do that around San Diego it seems. Parking was easy out front. Location was really nice, can walk down to Hotel Del and the beach. Loads of restaurants nearby, nice treats feeling clean and safe and like a nice neighbour nearby. I lived being in that location more than downtown SD or where we nearly stayed up in Mission Bay. Coffee was always available in room or down in the main hotel area which is excellent. Price seemed very good value for money. I feel they have the price point just right from a consumer point of view. Also the pool and got tub were excellent even in the unusually awful weather we experienced there. Cold a wet but the pool was a reasonable temp, salt pool and the hot tub was lovely and hot, great for any weather. The room was large, beds were large and comfortable, heating worked well once we had the super put it on but that was sally no trouble for anyone. Room was pretty clean I'd say. You could nit pick things like water pressure and style of the room but really for the money and age of property it's great. It's historically interesting and architecturally lovely. A hidden gem I think especially if you've hired a car because SD is so so easy to get around quickly anyway. Thanks Glorietta, was a pleasure."

"Our first night was a bit crazy with the construction going on around the hotel BUT Raj the manager took great care of us the next morning and put us in another room away from the noise. The rest of our stay was relaxing and a perfect getaway! Thank you Raj for your expertise in managing and protecting the charm and history of this Inn that has become such a special place to us!!"

"A beautiful hotel with excellent customer service! Manager Raj went above and beyond to accommodate me during my visit. The breakfast was wonderful! The outside dining area in the sunshine was fabulous! The suites are spacious and beautiful! A three minute walk to the beach and so many choices to dine locally. You will be so happy you choose this mansion to stay and enjoy!"

"We booked a standard room as a last minute get-away. I didn't realize that most of the rooms are motel-style with doors opening to parking lots and walkways. We probably wouldn't have booked knowing this. Our room was directly across from the back entrance to the lobby and it could get pretty loud. The walls are also very thin so there was a lot of noise both above us and next to us. Our room was also very small- smaller than the picture. I'd booked that room because it had an extra chair next to the bed so my husband could work on the computer and be comfortable but our room was so small that the chair wasn't there as it wouldn't fit. That being said, the room was clean, the carpet looked like it had been replaced recently. They also had large, fluffy bath towels and all the basic amenities we needed. The staff was really friendly. The location was ideal - right on Orange Street (main part of the village) and surrounded by shops and restaurants."

"Absolutely amazing experience staying here. Worth the splurge for an in mansion room (sunset room had a lovely private outdoor area with a porch swing!) Traveled with a partner for the winter holidays, first time in the area. The pool was fun, the breakfast was tasty and fresh/flexible, the staff was considerate and accommodating. Walkable area as well with plenty to do nearby :)"
